There’s a few little things that happen in the film to be honest.
As for the animals, there’s a radio transmission briefly in the car saying that electromagnetic issues have altered animal migration patterns. It plays into the idea that animals can sense different wavelengths to us and react accordingly. The flamingos play into this as well as they are usually in the south of the US so suggest something has happened there.
Also notice the paintings in the house change throughout the movie to show the chaos and confusion getting worse. The one in the living room is noticeably different by the end, but the waves in the bedroom become more and more extreme to the very extreme ones when the kid’s teeth fall out.
I can’t believe enough people watched the first one to even warrant a sequel. It’s horrible. Plasticine stop motion needs to die. Or better yet. Someone needs to invent a Time Machine for the sole purpose of going back in time to make sure stop motion never got invented in the first place.
Although I am sure they will eventually increase the number of adverts (and possibly the cost), I don’t really mind paying £4.99 for the advert tier. There really wasn’t that many for the films and shows I watched. If I remember correctly, I don’t actually think the films I watched had any adverts at all (they weren’t Netflix Originals, but rather films just licensed to Netflix).
However, this part was a bit worrying.
Netflix said it was confident in its growth path and was planning to raise prices.
“We largely put price increases on hold as we rolled out paid sharing. Now that we’re through that, we’re able to resume our standard approach,” co-chief executive Greg Peters said on a call with analysts to discuss its latest quarterly update.
“The summary statement might be, ‘back to business as usual’.”
Considering many of their top profile shows are ending/have ended (and many would agree they went downhill towards the end), this seems like a stupid time to raise prices as many will just cancel as they shows have ended. However, I’m sure people will continue to subscribe to Netflix no matter what they put out.
I think this is an interesting skew of the offering now by Netflix, push people on the cheaper-ad-free tier to either pay more, or switch to adverts. There must be more adverts coming, otherwise Netflix wouldn’t think they could recoup that downfall in revenue from subscriptions by pushing people to the advert tier.
Interesting to watch, and hopefully Netflix push more content out - I know there are 2 more Harlen Coben series coming (and I love them all so far) - but I pay for the Ultra HD tier, and I value that, at max £20 a month, for so long as I can get Disney+, Prime & Apple TV+ “free”.
Not surprised more people have signed up since the password crackdown though - that was 100% the point!
I have watched a few of the Harlen Coben shows and I’m sorry, but they just aren’t very good imo. I find it really hard to say why though. It does seem that people either love them or hate them. Seen so many people confused as to why the newest one was so popular.
I think I am happy to continue with Disney+ Standard and Apple TV+ with a yearly subscription (although currently get Disney+ Premium for free) and just get others for a month at a time on their cheapest plan. No need for me to pay extra for Disney+ Premium when my TV isn’t that good quality so no point paying for better quality.
Only thing that slightly annoyed me was constantly getting adverts for York St John university. You do not need to show me this every single time I watch something considering I am not applying to university
I just finished Fool Me Once and thought it was mediocre. Not up to the usual Coben adaptation standard which have all been very solid if not spectacular.
It’s an extra £6 to remove adverts which seems so expensive imo. Prime and Disney are both £3, although Disney’s advert tier doesn’t include downloads.
There is definitely some content you can’t watch on the ad-supported tier, but all of the more popular shows seemed to be supported. I think it is due to rights issues as they only had the rights for the shows to be shown without adverts or something like that.
I definitely think the fact some titles are missing should be highlighted on the sign-up page. This 1st screenshot is below the 3 tiers with no reference to the standard with adverts having less content. You have to click the link to find this out.
So rather than simply remove them from anyone on the ad supported plan they helpfully show you them but make sure you’re aware you can’t watch them without paying more.
Of course they could just provide those without ads if they so wished. You are, after all, still actually paying for the ad tier in addition to seeing adverts.
