Netflix Chat

I’ll keep my £3 PM Turkish sub, soon as it stops so will my Netflix.

It’s great background noise when I’m working nights, but we rarely sit down and watch it any other time. There are some exceptions, most recently AfterLife and The Tinder Swindler.

I think if it wasn’t included in our Sky subscription then £15.99 a month would push it into not worth it, especially when we’re really starting to feel the pinch in other areas too.

Completely disagree with Disney+ being full of Disney trash. There is a lot on there that Ive seen and really enjoyed and a lot more that i want to watch in the coming weeks, especially when the old netflix marvel shows are added.

Yeah to me pretty much everything Disney produces is trash. Designed by focus groups to sell toys. Includes all marvel trash, sorry not sorry :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy, 911 and some other stuff on Disney. So for now they are hanging on with a thread. If it goes up to £90 next year I’m out.

Disney+ is planning to launch a cheaper, ad-supported tier in the US later this year, and internationally next year (which should include the UK). It is an option if the price increases.

I don’t think any price will be enough for me to get rid of Disney+. I watch all the Marvel and Star Wars stuff and The Simpsons, and have enjoyed all of the other stuff I’ve watched including Dopesick (got one episode left), Only Murders in the Building, and some of the films on there. I also do enjoy American Horror Story. Not the most serious show ever but quite a bit of scary fun. I also watch some of the Disney and Pixar films from time to time.

There’s definitely enough on it to keep me happy.

Ooh Only Murders In The Building was amazing I forgot that was Disney!

I don’t personally watch any Star Wars or Marvel stuff so that alone won’t hold me. But it might convince my husband to take over the Disney subscription if I get fed up with it  (I am mostly joking. If he wants it I will pay for it.)

How would you feel if Netflix followed Disney and launched an ad-supported tier for a cheaper price? For me, it would depend how long the adverts are. I’m perfectly happy to have adverts on NOW because they are never very long but I might not be so happy if they were a lot longer.

Showing my proper irrational nonsense right now: if there were adverts I would want it to be near enough free. I wouldn’t want to pay and watch adverts.

I even got cranky with Prime showing me a different show before the show I was watching :joy: “Don’t advertise to me when I pay you!”

Again, it depends on the price for me. The adverts on ITV Hub and All 4 are normally around 3/4 minutes, but it’s completely free so I’m alright with that. If I’m still paying something, I’d expect shorter adverts.

100% with you on that… for the same reason I get annoyed with the adverts on Apple News. I pay £29.99 a month Apple, I don’t expect adverts kthxbye

i tried a couple of the ‘free’ movies on primes imdb offering they stuck the ads in at the most rediculous places

Just a selection from the top half of my feed…

I’ve always had, and they haven’t disappeared since I subscribed to Apple One Premier.

It seems that ads are a feature, despite paying!

The adverts in News+ annoy me to no end.

There’s so much Apple need to do to improve the News function for paying customers. I’d also like any news publications I block to just not show up; not have a space where they should be with “You blocked this, view anyway?”

From looking at other sites, the thing that is annoying people about the price rise is that they believe Netflix is loosing its better content yet is going up in price. Disney has just taken off quite a few popular shows for Disney+ so it doesn’t seem like the best time for a price increase.

there is times on netflix when i look that i struggle to find a movie to watch . or it sounds good and ends up being rubbish , i will absorb this price rise but will think about it if it goes up in the future

I do that with Netflix and NOW. Don’t see the point of having them when I struggle to find something to watch (although NOW is more to do with the high cost than there being nothing to watch).

Guessing you don’t pay for Sky / newspapers / magazines / the cinema.

Plenty of media which double dip on charging and showing ads.

Slightly misleading there. The bulk of that £30 isn’t going towards News.
