I got my 1st ever DD notification from NatWest today. I’ve had a few new DDs this time around due to a car purchase. This is the 1st one where it’s come up with this message, I’ll wait to see if the rest when they get around to 1st payment say the same or not.
More messed-up brand positioning from NatWest: Wonder why it’s using the old 2D logo.
So just an update on the notification I got for the new RAC DD. None of my other new DDs have triggered a warning, so I can only assume that stuff like RAC cover they’ve seen a rise in fraudulent DDs, which in turn meant they sent a notification about it’s 1st payment.
Could just be me, but the Natwest app seems to be unstable AF this morning.
Keeps kicking me out, tried re-install and it worked once, then went to a service status page.
Which is interesting because it’s always been super stable
I’ve been in it today no issues, it’s one of my main bill days, was just in checking that all the new DDs I’d set up had gone out fine for the 1st payment.
Having said that I’ve just attempted to get in now and get this message and service status mentions app issues.
Online banking works fine, or at least for me it does. Just the app at the moment which is throwing a tantrum.
I couldn’t get into my Child & Co. account (RBS app) this morning during a Klarna purchase, with a status message about a drop in connection, but the app opened when I switched off wifi, which might have been a coincidence.
Actually surprising, considering the normal total stability
Apart from the occasional background crash, I can’t say Monzo has ever had this issue for me
I’m liking the clickbait articles at the moment about the outage, most of them state that online banking is down. You then click in and it clarifies with a statement saying the app is down but you can login to online banking through the website to get to your accounts.
Tbf it’s the same with any bank articles, always that click bait headline to get you into the page to serve up some ad revenue.
It would’ve been for me too, but I switched them across to Monzo this month, which turned out to be a good move. I presume they would’ve still gone out ok, and that if not the liability would be with the bank?
Has anyone said it’s a Russian cyber attack yet?
If not then give it time
True! Fixed ![]()
It’s working again
Those are the same release notes from last week; looking at the build number and the fact that this week it is an x.x.x release, my guess is that the latest update is actually a bug-fix one.
Received the first Direct debit notification today in Natwest. No idea why they think a generic date emoji is useful (it has no bearing on anything) and the CAPITALS are a little messy but otherwise good to see it happen as it did.
At the end of the day if you’re not a business customer, someone who has a credit card, overdraft, fixed term savings account or another lending product the bank don’t make money from you, so if you leave the probably don’t care.
And employees would never be punished unless everyone suddenly named the same person through a complaint or told a store manager specifically in person.
They’ve mentioned that for a while but this section of the app has recently been redesigned to make the Voice biometrics bit look more like a button, so it seems likely to be more imminent now than it was before.
Interestingly, they already offer voice biometrics on telephone banking - so hopefully it will be coming soon as they clearly already have the technology behind the scenes.
