I would agree. If they did decent unrestricted savings I’d consider moving back. Still have a dormant account which has served me well over the years.
I just received an email from Natwest with some T&C changes.
The one thing I’m not sure about says: “We’re confirming that when you receive a replacement debit card, we may enrol your new card to the relevant card scheme’s updater service. See leaflet for details.”
There is no leaflet attached or linked.
Does anyone know what an ‘updater service’ is?
EDIT: There is a leaflet link at the very top of the email. It takes me to a Natwest page about ATM limits; therein, another leaflet link is buried, that is the correct link to the T&C update PDF leaflet. Who designs these things?
Netflix for example, so any recurring payment services you have linked to your original card, the merchants will be updated automatically.
This only applies to merchants registered or recognised as a recurring payment service, generally excludes things like Morrisons for example.
So just changing your card to end all subscriptions linked to it wouldn’t necessarily be possible.

I had same email with rbs as well today.
A bit late but I’ve recently applied and am at least quite impressed with what they offered me. I haven’t got the best history in the world but I was given a reasonable limit at quite a low 12.9% apr.
The thing that has really impressed me though is that it’s not just a bog standard credit card. It offers a flex like experience too. So I can select a transaction up to a £3k value and choose to pay it off over 3-24 months. There’s no interest free period, but the APR is only about 6% for me in the instalment plan. I can certainly see me making use of this - Monzo flex was only really beneficial when you intended to pay it off within the interest free period.
I imagine I’ll only use the card when I actually intend to pay for something over a longer duration so the day to day features don’t really bother me too much. I have noticed though that pending transactions don’t add to your balance until it’s cleared - that would bother me if I was to use it daily. When I had a credit card like that before the sudden balance increase after a weekend wasn’t appreciated. It does however amend your available balance.
NatWest definitely do a “Split in 4” interest free option. You might have to apply separately though?

The buy now pay later is something you have to apply for, it’s separate from the instalment plans you can have on your credit cards.
It’s a shame they stopped doing low rate card. I think it was called Clear Rate. I don’t know the lowest rate they did but mine is around 6.2%
I was interested in trying the BNPL product but I’m still pre-rejected and can’t even access the page to actually apply. Can only presume they can see I have too much unused credit already as my reports are squeaky clean otherwise.
Just for the avoidance of doubt NatWests BNPL is similar to flex etc but unlike flex and a traditional credit card you don’t currently get S75 protection.
Will NatWest send a letter in the post with my account number and sort code after opening an account? When I first opened the account there was a page with my account number on etc but I stupidly forgot to screenshot it just assuming I would receive a email or something
I have the bank card etc but there’s no account number or sort code but I need the two numbers to register for online banking to be able to then use the app, I have forgotten how long winded legacy banks are
Is this a generic everyone gets, before a ‘your account is not opened’ rejection email?
Think it’s always been the latter when applying but I’m not sure.
Anyone confirm who has managed to open an account with NatWest, say if this is the email they got on approval, or did you get another after?
I opened mine in 2007 so it might have changed since
With NatWest, I got that email then 2 working days later I got another saying the account was open.
With RBS, I got the same email, but later the same day I got an email saying the account was not opened.
Thanks, I’ll hold out for my rejection email
I opened an account last week for the £200, I got the same email and my account was opened the next day! Everything will come via snail mail so be prepared to wait.
I don’t think you would have got to that point if they were going to reject you
Usually after verification of ID and documents it emails me within a minute, so I’m hopeful this time.
Only difference in application was that it’s been done by iPhone this time, not Android.
Partner applied some time ago too via Android and was rejected, near perfect credit history too.
But it remains to be seen.
Don’t see why you wound get rejected tbh you’ll just have to wait a day or two and see if you get a email, I think my debit card came in the post before I even got the email to say my account was ready to use
I’ve an account with most other banks it was during a ripe time of applications so maybe I’ve chill out they might be ok.
Tbh NatWests application process is definitely one of the easier out of all the legacy banks especially to start accessing online banking, I literally couldn’t access hsbc mobile banking kept being told my device couldn’t be verified so I closed the account before I could even use it after endless calls to customer service💀
