What are Natwest playing at? I want to buy something but I don’t know how close I am to the limit (it’s a low limit tbh, I’m not usually so credit-heavy). I guess I’ll use Flex instead.
Can’t their IVR give you your remaining credit limit over the phone?
And again in English, caller? ![]()
If you’re asking me to physically call the bank, that’s a hard pass. I have neither the energy nor the patience.
Can NatWest’s automated voice thing give you your available credit over the phone, without you having to speak to a human? Like when you ask the automated voice for your current account balance.
Would the chat bot not tell you?
I have never used the chatbot, I’ve just asked it what my limit was and it told me to check the app. Useful.
I have never used the automated voice thing, so I don’t know the number. Is it accessible via the app? I’ve taken a look and I can’t see any link to call them, or a phone number shown. I guess I’d need to get my credit card and look on the back?
It’s not a crazy suggestion to want basic info shown in the app. The notion that I now have to look at other ways of communicating with Natwest just to get that info is *ugh*
This is Cora - it can just about say hello and goodbye, let alone anything else!
Wasn’t your account linked anywhere with open banking and you pull balance from there?
Also not sure when you had last used the card, if you have not used it at all this month your credit reports (if updated by 31/07) would show the balance.
I appreciate the suggestions. The card isn’t available via open banking, but I guess the credit report might show the limit. But at this point I’ve already made the purchase and used my Flex card. Monzo win this one.
They’ve been dreadful recently for me. Multiple issues on the app, I had to call them once and their customer service were useless. People complain about Lloyds but NatWest haven’t been much better recently.
Completely agree it’s not much to expect to be able to see your balance. Shouldn’t need to call or use live chat etc. especially as this is becoming a common occurrence.
My open banking connection in Apple wallet is down also.
And my credit report hasn’t been updated since June.
Mine won’t even open the app at all as the only account I have is a credit card ![]()
I’ve had a NatWest credit card for 10 years and only seen this a handful of times.
Agree it’s annoying but
happens ![]()
Updated my app and credit cards are back. Could be unrelated.
Man am I glad I didn’t move to NatWest from HSBC. I’ve had an account for years but this is the reason I never quite make the move. It was quite stable and modern for a while.
Dramatic. This is very rare.
Really barely happens. The HSBC credit card disappears more often for me than with NatWest.
Well it wasn’t just this. I opened a travel reward credit and it took over a week for it to appear in the app, whereas with HSBC I was able to open and use there and then, if I wanted.
I’ve also been trying to get a replacement debit card for over two weeks now since the last once expired. The AI agent opens the chat, passes me to a human who just closes the chat back down. I gave up.
I’m not hating on NatWest, I’m just saying that I didn’t find it as modern or stable as I’d have liked.
It does that every night but only because it’s updating. I’d prefer if it updated in the background to be fair.
