Happy forumversary!
How good is the nationwide app? Does it have instant spending notifications?
It’s very basic, and there aren’t any notifications. They don’t show any references, neither for payments sent, nor received. Payments between yourself and other people’s Nationwide accounts are treated as internal transfers, and don’t show their name, only the sort code and account number.
There’s no cheque imaging for paying in cheques, either.
As above, but apparently there are improvements due this year or in the future as part of their brand refresh.
On the flip side it is very responsive and stable.
Even when they have maintainance windows they are short, one can still load the app, and it shows most things it can.
For example - during faster payment maintenance there is banner that says “sending receiving is delayed”, but one can still see balance and queue up payments.
And savings accounts, credit card, mortgages are still visible.
And vice versa, when mortgages are under maintenance the rest works.
Also the app has SSO authentication to access the web applications flow or mortgage manager without needing to login again. Meaning clickly through to apply, or mortgage manager from the app takes you to the right place without needed to authenticate again.
It is very a stable and functional experience.
In addition to the app, they do have web based banking too - it looks dated, but again is very stable and functional with additional self service things one can do (which in many other banks require customer services).
That’s putting it very politely for Nationwide.
Agreed, the website banking probably was modern in say 2005 but now it’s a bit embarrassing. It mostly all works but it’s clearly in need of a dire refresh.
The mobile app is ok, it’s minimal functionality wise but it’s very clear and easy to use. I also like the mini credit statement it shows in the app. It means you don’t have to fish out the statement.
I do wish they’d spent the money from the logo redesign on the app.
There is a new one coming some time this year apparently.
I really like how their credit card statements are presented on the app, I do all my spending using the CC & it’s so easy to navigate/see spending etc.
Travel Insurance changes for Flex Plus customers, including abolishing the maximum age limit
Interesting, I wonder if others (HSBC et all) will follow suit eventually. Both of these are really starting to outperform Monzo’s offering, increasingly more.
Oh, they changed provider to Aviva. Nice.
They need to change Phone insurance as well :))
Wonder if a price increase is to follow.
Oh it looks so much better.
No hint on notifications yet though.
Hmmm, these changes to the app and restyle are making me think I might move my banking back to Nationwide.
Generally really vibing with how this is all panning out with Nationwide.
The website is going to stick out even more now as a bit stuck in the past. I’ve been really liking using face unlock with the app now that the Pixel 8 Series allows for it. Not unique to Nationwide I know. But it doe make life a lot easier imo.
I used them for years before starling came along, and I’d consider them again once notifications come.
