Nationwide doesn’t provide updates on switch eligibility over the phone. Otherwise you bet I’d be on the phone to them

Can’t wait. I think Fairer Share will probably be changed again next year based on chancers thinking that it’s unlikely to change in the future. Something like, the current things you need to do but averaged over the last year or something.

They can do whatever they want. I have £100 parked in a savers doing nothing, and regularly wash through their accounts, and my credit card gets a little love.

Nah, because they say it’ll take until the 30th. Having said this I did get mine on the 1st day last year. They probably say until the 30th as like a worst case sort of thing.

Likely. I’m on the fence about moving my banking to Nationwide. I do just love Monzo so much and it’s so easy to use. Maybe I just bite the bullet and go over to Nationwide :face_with_peeking_eye:

I’ve said I’ll do it many times but I’ve always come crawling back to Monzo.

They said by 30th June, last year they paid on 18th, where do you get this one week from?

They posted a letter saying 10th to 30th.

I’m surprised they wasted money on snail mails when they could just email or ping an app notification.

Paid from 10th → 30th June this year.

Last year they started sending out on the 18th which is when I got my payment. I think they had till some date in July to get your £100 to you though!

What was the first day?

My postie may be keeping my letter

I wouldn’t blame you - Nationwide now is a lot better than what it was when I was at university. Back then we all signed up to Revolut just to gain the ability to split bills.

Not sure why you specifically come back to Monzo vs a similar enough bank with better banking products (if you’re not moving away I get that there’s a level of inertia, but if you have been leaving and coming back, I do wonder why you don’t move to a better one, such as Chase/Revolut).

Better is very subjective

Better banking products, subjectively worse UX/UI, although I’d be hard to convince on that while Monzo has upgrade plastered on my home screen, introduced the grow tab and combines buttons with search icons.

I have hopes for their online and mobile banking improvement. :crossed_fingers:t3::soon_arrow: My first impression with their helpline was quite positive. They’re also rated positively on bereavement support, a bit far ahead to think of but is important to think about when considering joint finance products.

The OH doesn’t have a great outlook on building societies in general. We share the view that they don’t seem to know what they want when buying Virgin Money.

Chase are meh. They’re in no way a FinTech, they’re just an average digital bank. This is controversial but there’s better legacy banks than Chase, especially in terms of apps and functionality.

Revolut I don’t have an account with them and I’m in no rush to get an account with them at all.

Yeah they’re just good, the app works, and it keeps me eligible for Fairer Share as well. But even if Fairer Share wasn’t in the equation they still just have good products. And at least I’m supporting people getting mortgages. I like my building societies!

I’ve never had an issue with them over the phone. They’re always helpful and friendly which makes a change from some of the TSB / Lloyds agents I’ve spoken to.

No branches, good fee schedule, app is above and beyond what current traditional banks are offering, product offering not developed… I guess technically they’re not a fintech, but they’re filling all those niches that fintech do

Any reason why? Revolut were the fintech back when I got into it. I opened my account with them on my 18th birthday

Compared to NatWest?

I think I’m just over the excitement of FinTech. There’s only so long you can have a fun exciting app before you just start to want something that just works!

In general they’re just not the greatest thing. They treat their staff horrendously, and take employee tracking to the extreme (I know UK banking won’t be much better, but it’ll be slightly better).

Back to Nationwide, I’m kind of tempted to move over to Nationwide. I think it could be good. And then I can keep Monzo for Perks, paying my subscriptions via the virtual cards, and then obviously Flex I’ll keep going. And I’ll keep my emergency fund with Monzo as well.

If they fixed my couple of gripes I’d be happier with them. I do use them though for joint banking. Really annoying when you pay someone with another nationwide account if comes up with the account number not name and if they don’t happen to know you’re account details or have to look them up they’d have no idea who it was from. Had it in the past when someone said I hadn’t paid them when I had and that was the reason. Also the fact they delete payees if you don’t use them for a while. I’ll delete them myself if I don’t want them thanks :slightly_smiling_face:. And still no transaction notifications
