GoCardless offer some cheap direct debits too iirc. I got an account from when they were paying people to sign up

Going to try and login to the app and see when my last switch bonus from them was - it’s definitely been years, but not sure if before/after 2021 to be eligible.

With the £100 FS, FlexPlus is £10/month which is decent value.

Does nationwide have card notifications yet? I remember it being something they were working on.

Not yet. But I have seen on their TikTok somebody commenting about it and Nationwide replying with ā€œ:eyes:ā€ so it must still be a WIP.

Could be a WIP similar to First Direct, namely it takes about 20 years to get rolled out and when I had an account it didn’t work at all.

The question is which will come first ā€˜Nationwide Notifications’ or ā€˜GTA 6’

Or a Monzo IPO…with a crowdfunding profit…

@hannng am I ok to go ahead and request the switch? They’ve appeared super quick considering I only applied for them at 8am yesterday!

Also to anyone worried: I do not keep Ā£1k in my basic account, it’s just there for the Ā£1k pay-in criteria!!!

As soon as the direct debits show on your account you can then apply for the switch.

Just so you know even if you submitted the switch request today, it wouldn’t start until Wednesday next week at the earliest, and they don’t request direct debit information from your old bank until day 3/4 of the switch I believe.

Ok brilliant I’ll get on that switch ASAP then! Just need to find my debit card

Agreed, I have five times that sat in my current account earning no interest and I’m not bothered…

He’s scared of people that micro-optimise finances saying that the Ā£1000 could be sat in an account earning 4% I guess

I am one of the people who micro organises their finances. And FWIW I get 5% on my savings

As long as you get a lot of extra interest on the difference between 5% and 2.whatever% a high street gives you, I think that’s fine.

Nationwide has emailed me today saying that my switch is underway. Will be done on the 3rd June. I can make a card payment on the 4th June and then the bonus should be with me by the 14th.

That’ll take me up to Ā£275 for the Switch 2. Then I’ve got the mettle Ā£50 referral, and the Ā£25 gift card Ulster sent me for my birthday. That means I’m only paying Ā£35.99 out of pocket.

Do you have a referral code for Mettle? Also, Ulster sends gift cards for birthdays?

Not by default. I was chatting with their support team about when my accounts would transfer into Select accounts, and they said (at the time) it would happen in the next week, and then they wished me a happy birthday and gave me a £25 voucher.

Metro Bank gave me £5 when I opened their Cash Account on my 17th Birthday. And the woman I think was slightly confused why I was opening bank accounts on my birthday :joy::joy::joy:

No, and I think you’ve missed the cutoff. You had to have your account approved (currently in excess of 20 days), make a card payment, and the payment to clear. Then enter the code, all before May 31st.

Indeed. Free FreeAgent (if you actually use the account) paired with MTD expanding in scope is probably having their onboarding team work overtime.

Will see if there’s any new offers after May finishes.

Not sure when I’ll next be eligible for switching bonuses either, annoying!

How long will it be until I get a text telling me if I’ve qualified? I know I have but if it’s confirmed I can rest easy! Also I thought my switch wasn’t to complete until tomorrow

Soon, as per the text. If you have ticked all the boxes what is remaining is playing the waiting game.

Probably worth giving them a call

I’m joking
