Monzo Plus - what would you like to see?

Yes. That’s called a marketplace which has always been their apparent aim.

Yeap, a simple marketplace where I can subscribe to what I specifically need.

Well, they are saying “You make Monzo, Monzo” and also that they want a product where you can pick and choose, so it would be “tailored” to you and me.

Monzo plus at the moment is not worth it, new card colour, meh… Events far from where I live, more meh. Swag…please.

Travel insurance is good but is that it? Most of those things are not useful to me and therefore not valued, hence not worth it. Sorry this is harsh and overly critical.

Compare this to…

First direct, their 1st account offers:
• Worldwide Travel Insurance
• Mobile Phone Insurance
• Motor Breakdown Assistance
• Waived cash fees on cash
withdrawals in foreign currency
• Leisure discounts and offers

All for £15 pound a month, add in gas and electric switching service, ISA, savings, and more things that are useful to me and I will happily pay more for them, or at least allow me to choose which benefits I want.

Can I just ask… how soon might we see some changes? I’m really keen to support Monzo however I can justify the current offering… but if it’s going to change soon to add more I will go for it…

Also… Can I keep my Monzo Investor card or do I HAVE to have a plus card?

I think it has been said that you can keep the investor card (ordering a new card is not automatic - it appears as a feed item if you want it). But no plus and investor combined cards.

Thanks Rob, I would have looked back but with over 700 posts I’d be there all day… and all night…

You have to increase fee free overdraft buffer with PLUS add on. £200-£300 fee free overdraft for £3/£6 a months will be fine for me.
Like FlexPlus offers £200 fee free overdraft

I’d like to see some sort of cashback scheme that can give you cash back on purchases from big retailers/supermarkets maybe. The device insurance is a good idea as well.

It’s early days and we’re not looking to ramp up super quickly, but so far we’ve enabled Monzo plus for 125 people of the ~7,000 on the waitlist and within 24 hours 47 have completed signup and paid

The team gets angry at me if I over-commit on timeframes, but I exclusively use Monzo via my joint account as well, so I’m very keen to see joint account support, too. We’ll hang in there together

I think people forget that features sometimes don’t directly translate over with simplicity, nor necessarily with the same rules, terms of service or legal guidelines. 2020 is pulled out my hat, but it would be nice to see by then (i dont use joint accounts).

Zurich are the underwriter and Pluto are the insurance broker. Monzo are introducing customers to Pluto, who provide the insurance and process any claims.

This isn’t related to Monzo plus. Daily ATM withdrawal limit has been £400 for a while (I actually thought it has always been £400 but I could be mistaken).

The app will show your active card, including the color.

Thanks, that clears it up for me.

In that case I don’t believe the wording for the offering is very clear. It currently sounds like Monzo provide insurance from Pluto and Zurich, in that case it doesn’t seem like it fits in with Monzos tone of voice, specifically in being clear and without ambiguity. It does seem more like it should read ‘insurance from Pluto backed by Zurich’ not ‘insurance from Pluto and Zurich’. The latter is ambiguous and not accurate.

We’re working on a few fairly exciting things, but please don’t buy Monzo plus based on those until they are released. If the current benefits aren’t worth the cost for you, I would recommend waiting until that changes. You can just continue to use Monzo for free just as before  It is also possible that Monzo plus will never be worth it for you. I’d be thrilled if in a year’s time 10% of customers were on plus, but that still leaves 90% that aren’t.

One of the reasons we didn’t release a roadmap initially was because we didn’t want people to spend money now for a feature that may not be released until later this year. I don’t think that would be right.

Based on the feedback in this thread, we are going to reveal more of our plans next week. But we have to be careful that we are still crystal clear about what we are offering right now.

Currently these are only available at the point of signing up. We’re working on modifying subscriptions after too

Okay signing off now to watch some football. I think I’ve answered everything that looked like a question and wasn’t answered already

Thank you for your enthusiasm all

Stay tuned for an update towards the end of next week!

Out of interest, what exchange rate does First Direct offer on these foreign ATM withdrawals?

“Waived cash fees” sounds like they don’t charge you to use an ATm, but they still might give you a poor exchange rate.
