Thanksss <3
Edit - To throw my 2c, I personally (if i can afford it) prefer to pay for things in lumps, rather than a monthly payment, if its a yearly commitment the option to pay for the year would be nice to have.
I understand the plus account is at early stages but Monzo really needs to offer more than the typical benefits customers may receive from high street premium accounts.
I like the option to add and remove specific benefits but in my eyes, maybe Monzo should have a plus account which offers basic/standard features which are in line with high street banks at a base rate of around £8 per month, these should include:
Below could be additional features for an additional fee of around £5 per month :
Obviously, the above pricing is what I’d pay for a premium account which is likely to vary from person to person. Also, I guess the final price is determined by what it would cost Monzo to put these features into place.
So far fourteen others have checked if that link was available and me…
I haven’t commented on this thread until because I wanted to wait a few days and have a few statements to clarify a few things before I chimed in.
Unfortunately those statements have made me worry even more so and the premium add ons seem to be going down the lootbox route.
Monzo plus if im honest not be for me in the same way that the current ISA’s and Savings accounts wont be either. I don’t mind putting the time in to get the best deal so unless theyre matched or beaten by Monzo plus’s offering then I’ll take the offers found elsewhere. Others arent so keen to do this and of course thats fine and hey thats somewhat good news to me as an investor.
Just alluding to what @Jonas said… Monzo points was something i was incredibly looking forward to, will someone who pays for plus be entitled to earn more with this? This will be a bit souring if so
Just for context, I have monzo, and starling but kept my Natwest account open purely for the extra features.
I currently get the following for £10
Mobile Phone Insurance
European Holiday Insurance
Tastecard membership
40% discount on cinema tickets
2% cash back on all household bills
Im just not sure how £6 for a card design and a link can stack up anywhere near that level of value for money. Almost a bit insulting if I’m honest. For this relatively meagre offering perhaps just a £12 a year fee and add other bundles later on?
I’d really like a connection/access to vehicle charging networks.
I might be biased, I attempted to get this across last year but from a different angle.
Subscription models do seem to be a “popular” platform. If part of my monthly fee was to include a favourable rate, for example.
Typing as I’m thinking.
iv requested to join plus - but dont know
will i be able to use plus on joint acc?
I’m wondering if Monzo Points will be for Monzo Plus subscribers only
I hope not…
What I envisage is something akin to the Amex Credit Cards - the “premium” ones tend to net you more points in return for a monthly fee, and then the “core” ones whilst netting you less points than the premium, don’t require the fee.
Now that you have the ISA savings, this is the last thing I need before switching.
I just can’t get rid of the co-op premium account at the moment. It’s worth to much to me.
£300 interest free over draft
EU wide breakdown cover
World wide travel insurance
Phone insurance
Get a couple of other things I’m not bothered about.
Iirc it’s like £15.50 a month
Also like your current one of doubling the cash free aboard amount. Although would be nicer at £600
Have just been thinking about this bit a bit further.
Currently it would cost £6 to withdraw £400 in a given month, with this perk the break-even point is withdrawing between £300-£400 each and every month.
Plus then the £3 or £6 a month fee to access this perk - doesn’t seem that useful for £100’s worth of flexibility.
I’d kind of imagine if you’re the sort of consumer who does withdraw this much or more from a foreign ATM each month, you’d possibly have a cheaper option available to you. If you’re not this sort of user, then you would likely spend more in the premium fee than the withdrawal fee would be. Just not sure I get this perk, or at least this specific levels chosen.
Maybe the emergency access thing would be valuable, but as that has a fee to utilise it (5%) that seems like a harsh fee structure? Charge to have the benefit on the account, and charge again to actually use it.
Anyone else have I view I’m not considering here?
I think the emergency cash feature (with fee) would combine well with the £400 fee free ATM withdrawals as a £3 per month add-on. This add-on could also benefit from a 3 month contract instead of 12 months.
Of course, I’m not sure how much the emergency cash feature actually costs Monzo to implement.
Fairly negative at the moment about Monzo Plus
I would 100% sign up to Monzo Plus if you could pick and choose which premium features you want - would love it if you could turn on/off different perks when you need them?
I do think customisation is the best for consumers
This guy has nailed a lot of what I would want to see.
My two favourite being.
As many have also said, I’m a big Monzo fan and an investor as a result but this is hugely disappointing and just feels like a money grab for those wanting extra instagram points for a different colour card.
I think this is why they should have waited.
In terms of travel cash, our top pick overseas debit card from Starling offers fee-free spending and unlimited withdrawals worldwide, as part of its free account.
oooh that must sting.
I am a sucker for exclusivity and to be honest, just having that deep dark blue card is enough for you to take my money and run, however I would like to see a few of the following potentially (sorry if I sound like a broken record):
I’m sure there is other stuff I will think of at a later time but this is all I can think of for now.
