Maybe I’m just being overly cynical. I want to be optimistic, I really do.

I completely share your cynicism on that point.

All I want from these threads is a good discussion on the concerns people are raising, not distractions. _{he says having encouraged the distraction in the first place…}

The last thread had commentary that the Plus team are here for Dialogue… but it’s pretty one sided so far.

We don’t know if they are going to be tiered, if not there’d be nothing wrong with using Four.

Basically true to Plus form, we are lacking any real information.

*Benefits include cashback, travel, mobile, breakdown, Home (buildings & contents) insurance

Help us name our accounts!

We’ve spent some time this week trying to come up with some conventions for how we name our accounts. We do what is called a ‘name storm’ where we try to get as creative as possible before whittling it down to a small list. We’d love your thoughts on what you think they might be, or suggest some of your own creative ideas.

Here are the rules:

• We need to name our three accounts: the current free Monzo account and the two new paid ones. Don’t just throw out a word, we want three from you in a convention that you think works.
• The names can’t be things like “One, Two, Three”: in the future we may add in other paid accounts.
• They need to follow this naming convention: Monzo [word] Current Account

Without knowing what the account includes, pros and cons of each one. I quite like the idea of basing them off colours.

Monzo Coral / Monzo Coral Current Account (Has to be the Free Account)
Monzo Blue / Monzo Blue Current Account
Monzo Red / Monzo Red Current Account

I think the shorthands are nice and simple, I like the sound of them when you refer to them just by Monzo ‘Colour’ rather than current account.

Leaves room for expansion with more variants and I also think it’s a nice way if the accounts aren’t necessarily tiered, doesn’t lend to one being better than the other.

It would be good if the colours were tied to the cards though. If cards had patterns you could maybe mix colours with pattern designs i.e have them called:
Monzo Coral
Monzo Camo
Monzo Red

I would like to know what becomes of those who didn’t cancel whenever the new Plus alights. Will they get migrated onwards? Forgotten?

The name might be a fun exercise but it is a bit pointless, could easily be referred to as bish, bash, bosh at least until the whole thing has been fleshed out.

Sorry, the focus on such material possessions is, to me, absurd. Offer a metal card all you like, but don’t base a product offering on it.

I couldn’t agree more. I think it is a gimmick but have no problem if people want to pay extra for one but to use it as a basis to incorporate other features feels wrong.

As others have expressed this naming exercise seems like a distraction from the concerns of the majority on pay walling app functionality. Do you need the names now? why don’t we have some codenames/temporary names (bish, bash, bosh works for me) and when the products are well defined some clever names can be decided.
