C’mon Monzo, do it.
I don’t want to get anyone excited. But Ross has just come online on the forum. “Seen now” or he’s just teasing us and watching the thread
Actually he’s typing right now…
But it isn’t Friday at 4pm… I’m confused!
Maybe the info got leaked early and they’re doing a rockstar…let’s see …any moment now
Hey everyone
As promised, here is the latest on the Plus and Premium updates (I tried to beat the GTA trailer release but the leak won oh and, posting on a Thursday is just a coincidence
).
First off, we are working hard to improve Joint Accounts for subscribers and are excited to share that the first two features are now in staff testing.
Assuming testing doesn’t unearth any nasty bugs or niche edge cases, we aim to roll out Auto Exports and Advanced Roundups in the next two weeks.
Don’t worry though, we are still working on bringing you Custom Categories and Virtual Cards. These are much more complex than we first thought, so I can’t promise that they will be coming soon.
For those of you who are also Monzo Investments users, Advanced Roundups will soon work with your Investments Pot too (this is also in staff testing). More to come closer to launch.
We are also giving the Plus and Premium Home tab (AKA the ‘Tab Of Death’) a much needed facelift. One of our squads has been working on a new design to help us prepare and future-proof for the big updates coming next year .
We’re initially launching this as an experiment to 50% of Plus and Premium users before Christmas and (assuming that the results are good) we will roll out to all users some time in the New Year.
I’ll follow up with a more detailed post on how the new features work when they ship.

“Closes thread”
I joke, thank you for the update!
I absolutely know this isn’t going to happen but…
Can we opt to get rid of the Plus/Premium tab? It’s so much real estate at a prime location for features frankly… we all know. Have them in a setting somewhere but I don’t need have a whole tab for features after years of having it.
This is a great update, thank you!
Loving the JA parity and honesty. I don’t have a JA so others will see that benefit.
Though I would prefer this to not exist, I’m super glad it is getting a facelift. But, more than that, it’s personal. If you have a VC it takes you to it, etc. Looks like a nice design and great effort.
But I want updates now! Jokes, but looking forward to seeing what these are.
I agree, I feel like that space could be much better utilised… although not sure specifically with what off the top of my head. It is something that I pretty much never use because, as you say, I know what the benefits are. I would rather have the star at the top right open up a page with this info on.
Merry Christmas Ross, you’re my new favourite.
Will this be its own standalone export, rather than merged into the current one for personal accounts?
Thanks
I’ll save a more detailed answer for my next post, but it will most likely be a separate tab within the same Google Sheet.
Thanks for the update. Great to see some fruits of your labours. I have the roundups for investments. I tried switching on but I’m only allowed roundups to one pot, so I’m not going ahead with that right now. Looking forward to further updates.
Appreciate the update @rossmonzo
That is a shame. Is one harder than the other? I would say that Custom Categories is more critical as you can’t approximate that in any way with the personal account, and not having it confounds budgeting.
Is it just the home tab update, for customers without joint accounts ?
I think I’d find both equally valuable - having Virtual Cards on JA means that you can then make that Virtual Card pay out of a specific pot. This means I’d finally be able to have Netflix, etc. come out of a Bills pot directly instead of out of the main account unexpectedly
Each to their own, but even in your description there you can still pay from the main account, whereas without custom categories you really have no good way to chop up your spending. Whenever I periodically end up doing this, rather than the app supporing me I inevitably end up with a spreadsheet and some hours of tedium. It would be so much better if things were classified into a useful set of groupings at the time, if it would remember these as it does for the personal account, and then at a glance your budget would just be there right in the app.
So, for those without joint accounts, nothing really new or improved then ?
No, for now.
whaddimiss?
