Metal cards a must interest a must cashback through points collecting at shops etc a must and is great with pick and mix individual options so customers get the right things they want I think thatâs the way forward. Some people will go for bundles some want some want various things and not want same as every provider has so we need verity on offer
Just seen someone on /r/monzo mention the Natwest Platinum account. ÂŁ20 a month, gives you all this:
Again, for me, Travel stuff is useless⊠so if I could get rid of the top three things, get interest and a metal card, for ÂŁ15ish a month, Iâd go with that.
I would be happy to pay more than that if they would include Monzo Points/Cashback
Funny seeing the âmustsâ thrown about
Looks like they got rid of cashback on certain direct debits on that account.
Not worth the money that, needs to be different and we can have a huge debate what each of us want but it needs to be worth while and for me this isnât
Like that one, maybe with a few more discounts and offers but good starting point. I would lov more on rewards/ cashback
Yeah thatâs what I would love to see
Yeah Iâd love them to bring back Monzo Points⊠that would be something I think is acceptable behind a paywall (before, their plans were to have it for everyone but give double points to Monzo Plus members) - or just cashback in general would be nice too
What I wonder is if there is a little of the âWhatsApp effectâ going on. What I mean by this is that WhatsApp have found/found that monetisation for their app was/is incredibly difficult as people are accustomed to a free product. So I wonder if the resistance to any monetisation of more âsummary featuresâ etc is due to that fact that a âfree Appâ should remain free in itâs entirety
I agree 100%
I havenât read all the posts, just read the original post and answered the survey, and Iâm worried to see mentioned things like âcustom categories, ability to connect credit cards, ability to spend from potsâ being considered as part of a premium account. Please donât. These should be features available for everybody.
Also âpriority customer supportâ is a NO NO NO NO
literally everything cadiazm said
This is a really fundamental issue that Monzo Plus needs to resolve. Plus seems to be based on copying other bankâs premium offerings, and they are based some some of the most legacy ideas in the business.
The only âmustsâ are the features I want.
Canât agree with this strongly enough. Your core customers have been attracted by your easy to access innovative budgeting tools. You have a large percentage of customers who might not have a lot of experience in budgeting and youâve shown us the way. Please donât forget this.
Youâre a genius!!
I found this thread about Carbon Offsetting in Monzo đ quite interesting.
I would be willing to pay an amount each month for Monzo to analyse my spending to calculate my approximate carbon emissions and offset them using a trusted third party. e.g. Spend ÂŁ600 as British Airways, recognises its likely to be a long haul flight automatically offsets the amount / nudges me to make a contribution. Obviously depends how much these schemes cost and if it can be calculated to a reasonable accuracy - There is a challenge for someone!
Anyway, that is my take for an âadd onâ for Monzo.
From the outside, this looks like a bit of a mixup between strategic business questions and product work. The whole company is obviously navigating this massive change from being in âstartup modeâ through âscale modeâ and now into value engineering at scale. There are huge underlying questions around how to adapt to that, maybe including âwhat is the value proposition of Monzoâ and âhow does that value proposition need to change with scaleâ and âhow does that value proposition support a sustainable profitable businessâ. Seem like itâs asking a lot for a product team to answer these sorts of questions, let alone a product team thatâs constrained to considering what exactly a premium account might consist of, or how much you can charge people for stuff that costs least to deliver.
I think itâs important that Monzo remember that this forum reflects only the views of the active participants and not necessarily the wider Monzo customer base and that whatever they do wont please everyone. Alas no cap fits all.
Also making âcoreâ features (budgeting, pots, blah, blah) only available to plus is a bad move IMO. As is arbitrary âswagâ.
My piece of feedback.
First, I didnât even know that Monzo Plus is out of Beta and my fiancĂ©e didnât even know it exists. So, do marketing better.
Second, why so much focus on travel? Youâre a bank, I expect you to do banking really well. Do different and focus on what you do well - banking. If I want travel insurance, phone insurance or similar perks, I will buy them from the provider directly. Ask yourself: why travel related perks? Youâre not offering offering washing machines or gym membership or PlayStations or clothes etc, so why travel? Because youâre a bank, not a travel agent.
Iâd love to see a Monzoâs own cash ISA or a credit card or an increased limit for cash abroad.
As others have said:
-Leave the money management and support free and equal for all customers
-Only charge for nice-to-haves, such as personalised cards or swag
-Unbundle things. Bundles arenât appealing in terms of value.
-Donât make it a subscription. I dread the recent trend of everything being a subscription. Theyâre just bills in disguise. Instead, sell one-offs.
