Monzo Metal Card

Kind of surprised nobody has mentioned ‘but if I am an investor do I still get the tag on the back’?

So I’ll do it for them.

What if you are an investor, and order a metal card do you get the tag in the back like the holographic card?

:slightly_smiling_face:

Wouldnt happen to be a northerner? I have heard tales of deep pockets and short arms

(just a joke northerners, you have always found your way to buying me a beer back in my experience :+1: )

Your account remains the same- account number, overdraft etc all stay the same.

You’re just getting a new card with a new card number.

Oh no it’s not!

@orphanscradle ‘INVESTOR’ is printed in almost the identical same place as the Plus Holo card (on the back, under the magstripe) - the front is clean and crispy white, with only the chip, ‘monzo’ and the mastercard logo.

Plot twist!

I’m sure someone posted an similar picture in the announcement topic too :exploding_head:

I’m finding loads of cards like the one I posted on Google. Wonder what made them change their mind and who these people are who own them?

They’re the original batch of cards that the Monzo employees + ‘beta’/test users had.

Unfortunately having both is a perk reserved for Monzo employees who work on Payments.

Yeah, it’s a lot easier to get cards out of my wallet now none of them are embossed . And it means my next wallet won’t have my card number imprinted into the leather too.

Is it chip and pin on 1st use or contactless is ok

Contactless is fine, the card is activated in the app so you don’t need chip and PIN.

Are they the virtual cards below (one says Greggs)? How do they work? How many do you get and can you re-assign a virtual card or is it set in stone once it’s designated as a particular payee? Can you only use it for the designated payee or will it work for any payee?

Yup as @ndrw says they’re just my loyalty cards, tickets etc

To be honest they’re a bit of a mess!

I’m pretty sure last time we were in Ikea I forgot my card, logged in to the web version and added it from there🤔

Regarding card delivery: my app was saying ‘it’s on its way arriving by x November’ and is now saying ‘it’s arrived’ but I got home this evening and there’s no post.

Is this because the change to ‘It’s Arrived’ is down to an educated guess based on the day it was despatched? I’m not at all bothered by waiting for my card to arrive but don’t like the idea someone’s nicked it! I’m pretty sure this is the case but please someone reassure my paranoia

If it’s anything like normal card delivery, it’s sent through Royal Mail and not tracked, so app screen should be a ‘best guess’.

If it has been nicked, there’s nothing to worry about. Although there will be a delay as you’ll have to get a new card sent out, there’s no chance of any nicked card being used maliciously as it would need to be actived in app first, I’m pretty sure.

It’s rather optimistic to say it should have arrived ne t day, when usually they say it’ll take longer than it does.

Thank you.

Of course, I knew all of this already but sometimes you need to hear it from somebody else!

Absolutely- waiting a couple of days would be reasonable under normal circumstances.

(Unless the cards were coming directly from the Monzo offices of course - in which case as it’s about a ten minute walk away I would have expected them to save the stamp :joy:)
