Monzo Labs: Connected Credit Cards

+1 for MBNA please

MBNA and Virgin Money please!

I would also love for Virgin Money/ Virgin Atlantic credit cards to be included

Assuming they meet the deadlines on them, this should come along with others from September. Monzo fairly definitely won’t be adding any new ones via screen scraping in the interim, going on comments from Jami above

Any chance that Vanquis is being considered for the Connected Credit Card feature @Jami ?

Please make sure you check the thread a little before posting.

It’s extremely unlikely that there will be any future additions until Open Banking is fully launched supposedly, later this year.

Just reporting back that I’m still having issues with your lackluster API provider :frowning:

Maybe it’s worth knowing that renowned competitor Plaid is in the UK now

Truelayer are a screen scraper, not api.

Hopefully it’ll all be sorted next month all apis should be available

Sorry, what I mean is that they provide their service as an API to Monzo

It’ll be changing soon when Open Banking becomes a thing. Hopefully much more stable.

Hey all,

Quick update. If you connected an RBS credit card, the connection will likely stop working today. This is because RBS has enabled Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), preventing credential sharing from working (as it starts requiring a second authentication factor).

Given RBS owns Natwest, we can expect the same to happen for Natwest cards soon.

That path to resolve this is for us to switch over to using Open Banking connections for credit cards.
For now, if you see a disconnected RBS card, it’s probably best to just remove it from the app.

We are testing these with staff internally, and hope to be able to smoothly migrate over before the September 14 deadline, when credential sharing will stop working.

We’ll share more updates as we get more test data in with the Open Banking connections.

Cheers! :bowing_man:

Is there any updates on the AMEX integration? Have Amex given any release date for their API?

Haven’t been up to date with it recently.

Last I heard a couple of weeks ago is that they’re still working on it. September is coming up real soon though! :soon:

I wonder if the transition from credential sharing to open banking is going to be a complete car crash (I mean in general, not specifically Monzo’s connections to 3rd party accounts). This June analysis from Tink (an account aggregation provider) of open banking readiness in Europe makes for interesting reading, although I’m not sure how much of the general European analysis applies to the UK??

Once this is implemented i’m going to switch my CC from Amazon, finger on the trigger!

Do you happen to have any information on Capital One? I am surprised there is still no integration being one of the biggest credit builder cards in the UK.

There’s no new integrations with anything at the moment for all the reasons stated every time someone asks.

Feels like I’m waiting for this forever.

Also, are credit card integrations available on Joint Accounts?
For the cases where both want to keep track of the same credit card account, with the complimentary card?

As per all the API chat above hopefully things will really get going in the next few weeks as supposedly deadline for all the providers to make theirs available to Monzo and aggregators is 14th September?

And might be wrong on this but p sure every time they mentioned JAs before, they said this would come to personal first, but I am assuming you could both add the same credit card to each of your apps, and with new look arriving soon too, won’t make a difference really if you add to personal or JA as will all be in the same carousel.

Yes, it is a reasonable work around to add a card twice, but will it be possible?

Also, it is very annoying how features aren’t thought through to fit all users in the bank. It is a lack of respect to JA users who put both of their main income on the CC but don’t have access to overdraft, monzo labs, amongst other features. It makes us feel like we’re on a special type of account and somehow it is less worthy than personal accounts (which we have but practically don’t use).
