Monzo Labs: Connected Credit Cards

Happy Monday everyone, quick update from Credit Card land. After testing with staff, we’re enabling some more credit card providers today! 1️⃣0️⃣

We’ll send a message to those who have previously opted in to the feature via Monzo Labs, linked directly to our new connection flow. From there you’ll be able to select from the following banks:

  • Barclaycard
  • First Direct
  • Halifax
  • HSBC
  • Lloyds
  • Nationwide
  • Natwest
  • RBS
  • Santander
  • TSB

Some Caveats

  • You’ll need Android 2.44.1 or iOS 2.45.0 to view the new connection flow. We’ll be sending in-app messages to connect to these providers to Android users today and iOS users later in the week. :iphone:
  • On iOS, you won’t see card images for banks other than Barclaycard until next week’s app update (2.46.0) is released. :bust_in_silhouette:
  • American Express is still off the list, whilst we test it internally. :x:

Other Updates

  • We’ve made some changes to better communicate cards that are loading, and cards that have disconnected. Next week’s iOS update will also reduce the amount that cards seem to disappear, as it’ll store details locally, instead of relying on a good network connection to display your card each time you view your account tab. :repeat:
  • Android 2.46.0 will include the ability to remove connections without disabling the feature in Monzo Labs. :wastebasket:

The Future

  • The team are currently exploring the possible next routes we could take with external account integrations and as always we’d love to hear more about what’s important to you. Things we’re already exploring:
    • Adding ways to pay off your card when you want for the amount you want
    • Linking current accounts as well as credit cards
    • Whether it’s feasible to show transaction history on your linked accounts

I’m currently seeing a weird error on iOS 2.44.0 #521. When I finish the three screens on the Barclaycard connection page, it errors with the following message:

There was a problem

Any idea about this?

Amazing news  I can add my Halifax now!

Just need Virgin Money and Tesco Bank to complete all my cards
When are we likely to see the new feed item so I can add Halifax?

Thanks

Another +1 for Virgin Money and Tesco Bank.

Also, current accounts using open banking would be great, as well as loans / other account types like mortgages/savings/isa’s. These would be good:

  • Nutmeg
  • Tesco Bank Loans
  • Sainsburys Bank Loans

Is Capital One even possible? Emma has integration but it disconnects constantly and requires authentication so isn’t even worth the hassle, I’d imagine you and them would need to work with them to have real integration.

Hey Ash, we’ve seen this with a couple of people who have the feed item but the integration turned off in Labs. Any chance you could double check if that’s the case for you?

Whenever I try to enable it, it refreshes and disables it

anyway of making Lloyds CC available in the labs? I keep getting Barclaycard

Oh no! Do you mind DM-ing me the email address of your account and I’ll take a look for you now?

I’m probably being really thick… but I can’t find somewhere to go to link my HSBC card. Also a +1 for Virgin

This is the point missed. Thank you, I’ll hold fire! Just got a tad excited

No, they have separate websites and logins. So we don’t support MBNA yet I’m afraid.

All of the above sounds fantastic. I’d love to be able to see a feed for my credit card. Would take Monzo to the next level!

Looking forward to the AMEX, Tandem, Virgin card connections - hopefully we will see these soon as they are the only cards I have atm!!

Very exciting to see they are working on paying off your card in app… :+1::+1:

 cannot wait for this, but still seriously excited for the progress clearly being made!

Another vote for Virgin Money please.

Paying off from within Monzo would be amazing and convenient, but the thing I’m most excited for is bringing transactions into the app so I can either see a separate feed or combine. Would be amazing to use my Amex for large purchases to get better protection and free travel insurance, but still be able to categorise and incorporate into my budgeting calculations etc.

Just hanging on ‘Connecting…’ for me :frowning:

Is MBNA on the list going forward?

Nope. Worth reading the replies
