Monzo Labs: Bills Pots šŸÆ

My pot correctly shows the standing order as being attached correctly.

I am also not seeing the relevant standing orders when I go to the pot - just DDs.

@alawrence I’m on iOS, so perhaps if @wbrowngala112 is as well, it’s a platform thing? @simonb?

It’s working okay for Android

Yeah I have this issue too, also on iOS. When I click on the standing order it shows paid from bill pot but it’s not showing on the list.

Thanks all - I’ve raised it to the team

My pots disappeared but scheduled payments appeared

The pots are active but the app stoped showing them

I’m on the latest software for monzo and iOS 12 On one phone and iOS 13 beta on my main phone and standing orders don’t show on the bills pot just in scheduled payments going from pot

Likewise. For every DD I have scheduled to be ā€˜paid’ from my Bill pot I see first the transfer back from the pot to the main account and then the DD paid from the main account, each with the same timestamp on them. I had 4 last night and the DD’s happened over the course of an hour, but the pot transfer always happened immediately before the DD was taken.

I can set the standing orders from pots but don’t show on the pot coming from but direct debits do

Is it my thinking or is it true pots transfer money out to cover the payment assigned to the pot the payment doesn’t stop showing on current account

I can’t wait until recurring card purchases are included, but in the meantime I’ve created my own applet for various merchants in ifttt platform.

I’d like to see it possible to pay any card purchase from a pot (without the need for ifttt applets). Your supermarket purchases coming from a grocery pot, various holiday purchases from a holiday fund etc etc. Now that would be cool :eyes:

Yes, you can :+1:

Card payments from pots done like curve do when you select where you want to pay from would be fab and would solve a lot and help your life even better knowing the cash you really have to spend is yours

Rent and monthly transfer to joint account both added to monthly bills pot… Great! Wont actually see it tested for a few weeks until they happen but this is an amazing feature and very easy to use. Great work.

Honest answer is card payments, recurring or otherwise aren’t comparable to the work to make Direct Debits and standing orders from pots, we get advanced notice of these and that lets us move money in the background without interrupting a payment. There are a few ways to card payments work but it’s not our next project.

I’ve always suspected recurring payments would be a nightmare!

I assume these would form part of the merchant data tidy up, as it seems they’d go hand in had?

That’s a shame.

But they’re in the ā€˜Subscriptions & Direct Debits’ section of Scheduled Payments and so Summary knows about them and calculates the ā€˜Left-to-spend’ accordingly.

I don’t find this a big deal. Transfer (scheduled or manually) the amount to cover your expected D/D’s and SO’s/Scheduled Payments into your bills pot (which said D/D’s/SO’s/Scheduled Payments are assigned to be paid from) and you’re good. The recurring card payments will simply be taken from your main account - BUT - Summary will know this is going to happen anyway and alert as appropriate.

Direct debits and standing orders are triggered by Monzo so before they trigger them they can just move the money from the pot.

The problem with ā€œsubscriptionsā€ is that they’re triggered by the merchant and Monzo have strict rules over how long they have to approve the transaction (seconds) or the payment declines. Summary knows roughly what day it’ll happen but it maybe be a day or two either side (or not at all) and they’ve no idea what time so there’s nothing they can do to prepare.
