Weirdly I just tried this on an older OP5 (with off-screen fingerprint reader on Pie) using the default OnePlus launcher and with new biometrics enabled the new auth dialog is shown so it’s calling the new API. Checked the “Try Again” button and it still didn’t do anything.
In light of this I switched off of Nova Launcher back to the OnePlus launcher on my OP7 and still not presented with the new auth dialog so it appears to be some nuance of Oxygen OS Q .
Thank-you so much, this is now working:
Pixel 4
Android 10
Monzo app 3.21.0
@Dave.C once updated to 3.21.0 you need to return to Settings > Privacy and Security, then enable Unlock app by identify check. It doesn’t default to on.
@Joey.S on the Pixel 4 the Monzo app is respecting the Android configuration option Security > Face unlock > Always require confirmation. The text beside that option states “When using Face Unlock in apps, always require confirmation step”. With this option toggled off, my Monzo app doesn’t force the additional tap to confirm unlock.
When I try to enable Unlock app by identity check, I’m told to “Set up fingerprint - Before unlocking the Monzo app, you need to set up fingerprint on your device. You can do this in your device security settings’” - this option does not support face unlock.
The Pixel 4 does not support fingerprint unlocking.
@Dave.C that’s the message I received when using Monzo app version 3.20.0. If you’re on Monzo app 3.21.0 might be worth trying a reboot, or clearing the app cache? Mine didn’t require either though, it just worked after I updated to 3.21.0 and toggled Unlock app by identity check on.
Hi all! I came here to say that 3.21.0 is now rolled out to 100% of the user base so you can all update now and test it, but it seems that some of you were faster than me
Hi folks! We’ve just released 3.27.0 in the beta channel and it includes a couple of fixes for biometric prompt. Could I ask any of you that has had problems in the past with it to download beta and try if it gets any better? Cheers!
I suspect its mostly just the Pixel for now although no doubt more will come this year. Basically samsungs faceid was terrible and easy to beat with a photo.
Just bought a pixel 4 XL and read through this thread to see some successful and some not successful being able to use face ID to unlock the app. Has an update been made available for this to work? Currently I have no security when logging into the app
