Monzo in Tunisia

Me and my boyfriend travel to Tunisia next week for two weeks, has anyone used their monzo card over there before?

Thanks

Hi Ellie,

I go in November can you let me know how you get on, i’m wondering if most places like shops restaurants will have card machines to pay as that seems to be the cheapest way as there is a 3% fee for cash

Has anyone used Monzo in Tunisia?

I am taking a Winter Break in Tunisia from 17th January 2025.

I have a Wise account and card but they do not support the Tunisian Dinar.
I understand that that Wise & Monzo are part of the Bank/organisation so I trying to find out if I can use my Monzo card there. If I can pay by card at places that accept Mastercard.
Im going all inclusive so shouldn’t need much cash but no doubt I’ll need some and it would nice to know what my limit is and how much the charges will be if I need a larger amount if I encounter a problem that only cash will solve.

I don’t know if Monzo support monitor the forums and provide answers so how do I contact support ? Emailing will take too long, judging from the amount of time it took to get a reply last time I had a problem when I could not open an account easily.

Appreciate any help and advice TIA.

They are not the same bank or organisation.

You can spend using the card, keep your balance in GBP - it’ll convert in real time, you just can’t store Dinar on the card ie convert ahead of travel.

Your monzo bank card will work fine in Tunisia, and convert GBP to Dinar in real time.

Always pay in local currency when offered (never pay in GBP as you’ll get a poor exchange rate), and never accept the conversion rate at an ATM.

I’ve recently booked a trip to Tunisia, and was curious to know how you got on with using your Monzo card?
