It doesnât affect anyone who someone else on the street banks with. If you donât read GB News you wonât see the adverts. If you see the adverts then youâre reading GB News. If you feel strongly that companies shouldnât associate with GB News then why are you reading GB News? Youâre being more detrimental to your own cause than someone who couldnât give a t*ss who banks with who but doesnât read GB News.
Like truly; if your right wing neighbour banks with Monzo what the he*ck do you think is going to happen?
Iâd find out we both bank with the same bank and Iâd not care at all, because theyâre not a bank with 200 customers built around being progressive.

This is the elephant in the room regarding the OP (not a personal reference)
I wrote, re-wrote and re-wrote again several replies about this, but @coffeemadman wrote it much better. Without getting personal, ad hominem, ad nauseum - why ask the question on personal opinions about this in the first place?
Pretty sure with Google adverts, you buy target impressions and target views through the programmatic reach options - and that means you could be advertising anywhere that uses Google ads, so itâs not a unique to GB News thing.
Unique to GB News would be their television adverts etc. But certainly not an online advert.
Monzo would have paid for a range - and the advert goes around various websites.
And for what it is worth - you always have to leave politics behind, but how many people view GB News and how many people saw the Monzo advert, it may actually have been a net positive in terms of acquisitions after!
All my ads on The Guardian are basically sites I have just looked at so I bet that GB News had little to do with this beyond putting in a plugin for a particular ad service
Whatâs weird really is that this will 100% be a work expense so normally it would be done using a GPC credit card.
Whether he has a personal one or not (Iâd assume he does - heck even I had a personal one) a government official overseas could use a pool one.
My only guess is that there might be some security concerns with using it? So an easy to open bank account might be the way to counter that, which can then be closed. But then I would have thought a non-bank would have been easier so perhaps not.
There are credit card skins that they could use to cover the Monzo or any other bankâs branding, couldnât they think of that?
I have some Liverpool FC skins on some of my cards and before they get dirty, they looked real. One guy at a car dealership asked me if Liverpool offered credit cards when I had pulled out one.

Trafford Centre today - huge screen with Monzo branding in a ârelaxingâ area showing TV shows.
Also had Monzo branded hot-coral deck chairs to sit on (this picture is a bit cr4p, but you can just make a couple out in the lower-left of the image):
Itâs good for his image - something like this would have been clearly planned by the press team. I guess the association with the Monzo brand helps, as does the card colour to draw your attention to it.
