‘More than 4bn’ so i was hoping higher… maybe I’m being aspirational. It would be a great exit opportunity, especially as Crowdcube just acquired Semper, the secondary platform. Although I think I’d be tempted to hold for longer, or part-sell
So a million new customers every 4 months?
Much of the same, but worth a read nonetheless. Worth following this guy on LinkedIn, he posts good fintech content from all over the world
Anyone have a subscription to read this article and share the gist of it with everyone? It is basically “after 3 years of negotiations Post Office can reveal that Monzo dot dot dot PAYWALL”
I invested £2000 in December 2018 and my shares are now worth £3600 absolutely pathetic who is kidding who. Is that what we call dilution?? The value of Monzo in 2018 was £1 billion they should now be valued at APPROXIMATELY £8 billion I am just flummoxed about the whole thing. How come the share price has only doubled, when the valuation is between £6-£8 billion also they have onboarded at least 7 million customers since then, any explanation would be appreciated.
Do you understand how investing works?
but aren’t
No,please explain. Thank you
I would hazard a guess that you like the company,do a little research, trust your gut feeling and then invest what you can afford to lose.
the valuation isn’t between 6-8 billion though , as much as it would be nice to be that figure, where do you get it from ?
I think you will find that the valuation will be minimum £6 billion in 2024. Monzo has been absolutely smashing it the past 18 months. What with Flex,Loans,Investing,New Customers etc.
I mean you’ve made £1,600 so…
I’m unsure what your level of experience with investing is, but it sounds like you’re somehow mad at Monzo, but somehow unsure what you’re expecting them to do.
Investing is a risk. Welcome to this risk. Though again, you’ve made money by your own admission.
I think it may be a little much to explain the entire concept of investing but I would highly encourage anyone who doesn’t understand investments not to invest in start ups.
The growth of Monzo is actually quite good, 9/10 start up investments will either make a loss or break even at best.
Anyone investing in Monzo was repeatedly warned that losing everything was a very real possibility, and only to invest what they could afford to lose.
On that basis, while it may be relatively disappointing that Monzo hasn’t gone to the moon, any potential return should be seen as a bonus.
the valuation only differs / or not from the last "valuation " - what people are prepared to pay for the shares , at a 6 billion valuation you would need
Monzo to offer a number of shares that people are prepared to pay 6 billion "valuation for " by either getting roughly half as many shares as people got at the £14.4125 share price to give a valuation of £3.4billion or paying roughly £28 for the same number of shares to achieve a roughly £6b valuation
I think Monzo will do a stock split before the IPO in 2025 to keep the share price lower and thus more attractive to all investors.
No one really has a clue, the interesting bit is where they list, whoever is in government will be desperate for a London listing
That’s a strong reaction from someone who admits they don’t know how investing works
Most advice says investments should be minimum of five years. You’ve ’made’ £1,600, so I’d consider that pretty good on £2K. Assuming it stays like that, cos after all investments can go down.
You have not made anything until you have actual cash from a sale…
I invested in Monzo knowing it was a while before i realised a profit and that profit might never arrive…
