We’ll be 4 adults travelling from UK to NY. I’ll add my monzo card in my samsung wallet ( I have physical card as well). If the other 3 travellers ( husband and adult children) also add the same monzo card in their apple and samsung wallet will we be able to use NY subway by just scanning using the samsung/apply pay wallet?
The last time I was in NY and using the subway (October 2024) I just had my Monzo card set-up in Google Wallet and tapped my phone at the subway turnstile terminals. Never had an issue.
I’ll be back there at the end of May with the family for a New York ‘break’.
Have a great trip!
So 4 people, 4 devices, 4 different tokenised Monzo cards which are using the same real Monzo card, yes, that should work fine.
You can also tap one device 4 times, but you can’t do it on the first ride apparently as it takes a few mins to get approved on first use.
This could likely land up with your card being blocked.
Refer your husband, both get a refer fee, set up child accounts or u18 accounts for the children, add funds to their accounts.
Everyone has their own cards.
OP mentioned adult children in her first post. Does that mean she could get three referrals?
Another option is to use Virtual Cards if you’re on a Monzo paid tier.
Use your Monzo card on your device and set up 3x Virtual cards, one for each family member. They can then add their allocated VC to their device. Each VC can be set-up to be funded from your main account or from a designated pot if you wish.
Oop.
Yes; 3 referrals
Surely they won’t even get to first base with this? Will Apple or Google or Samsung pay even allow you to add someone else’s card in the first place? Sounds like it would get the card blocked for fraud when trying to add it, or at least delete the card from the original wallet.
Nothing technical to stop you doing this!
