Monzo Dual Accounts (UK and Ireland)

Quick heads-up if you already have Monzo :united_kingdom: and are thinking about Monzo :ireland:

At the moment, you can only have a Monzo account in one country at a time.
So if you currently have a UK Monzo account and you’d like to open a Monzo Ireland account, you’ll need to close your UK account first before signing up in Ireland. Once your UK account is closed, your Irish application should go through automatically.

We know this isn’t ideal, especially if you’re in the middle of moving countries. It’s something we’re actively working to improve so it’s much smoother in future.

For now, closing your UK account before applying will save you time and help avoid any hiccups. If you’ve got questions or you’re not sure where you’re at in the process, feel free to ask here.

Great update Cian, I assume it will go both ways that we can open Irish accounts and Irish people can open British accounts?

Thank you for making this clear Cian.

Are there plans to make it so UK residents can have a Monzo Ireland account in addition to Monzo UK, which is something some other banks like HSBC allow?

Also, many EU banks still serve the UK, so for UK residents with EU finances, this would also open another avenue of customer acquisition.
