Will today be the first 10k signup day ever???
The last 2 days have seen a gap up to 9k with the tv ad campaign swinging into overdrive.
IIRC Simon said they have ads scheduled during the Chelsea v Arsenal Europa League final tonight.
0-0 is my prediction on that one but +11k users is my prediction for Monzo today

Nearly 11.5k signups yesterday… new daily record by a long way.
I can’t see any reason for the surge other than the payment outage.
Is it possible that when Monzo flops they grow even faster?

Despite what was said elsewhere on here yesterday, maybe there is no such thing as bad publicity
Only other thing I can think of is that, as half my office seem to be on annual leave this week, maybe while they and other families are away they are talking banking, and Monzo specifically
As I have also written a couple of times both here and the other place the last couple of days, mistakes and issues do occur, but how you deal with them is as important, and revealing of your character, as a business as any amount of success

Could be time of year as well - lots of summer holidays, lots of searches as to travel money and travel cards, I know I signed up (back in pre-paid days) because I was going inter railing.
Although the added press from the outage for those who then search further will find out its actually a decent bank.

Surge could be due to the US Beta launch events? I know they’re this week, just not sure when?
First one tonight I believe.
First one is tomorrow in Santa Monica. Second is next Wednesday in San Francisco.

That’s a good question… Will the figure in Monzo.com be just UK accounts or US ones too?
I’d quite like to see them separately to get a flavour of how each market is doing - and so our new US friends can have the same milestone experiences / community building that we have!

We have a separate (internal) counter for the US waitlist. I don’t think we will combine the two at least whilst we are in Beta in the US.
Most likely we’ll put a separate counter on the US website once the numbers are worth shouting about
