Money transfer from Monzo USA account to Monzo UK account

My son has a Monzo USA account and wants to transfer some money to my Monzo UK account. Can you advise how he might go about that and what charges he might incur? Thanks

Send international payment under the payments tab, provide them your IBAN.

Possibly cheaper via revolut but USA has a waitlist as they’re changing banks, and who knows how long that’ll take for new customers.

At this time, Monzo US accounts can only directly send and receive payments from US bank accounts. This means we do not offer a SWIFT or IBAN code, and do not accept wire transfers.

We hope to allow these type of transfers in the future - but for now we recommend using a service like Wise for any international transfer!

Send him your Monzo.me link.

This was how me and my friends did it before cash app came to the uk, although they were with BoA not Monzo. With Monzo it shouldn’t cost anything either because there’s no FX fee, and you’ll receive it instantly, beating services like Wise.

Apple Pay makes it extra easy. There’s a limit per payment and overall monthly limit on the amount you can receive.

Would be awesome to have something native in the app to facilitate really fast free transfers between Monzo US and UK customers though. Especially now Cash app is exiting the UK.

Are there any constraints with using Monzo.me? Is there a limit to how much can be transferred? Can it be used with a basic Monzo account?

The Monzo.me website isn’t very informative and when I “Go to Payments > Request to get started” on my Monzo app, my son doesn’t show up as he doesn’t have a UK Monzo account.

And how do I know what my Monzo.me username is so he can send money to me?

I believe it’s limited to £500 per transaction, and capped at £1000 per month.

All Monzo uk customers have access to it. You can find your Monzo.me link in payments within the app. Go to payments > request money > by qr code or link > tap share link instead.

Send your link to your son, and he can then send you money via that link using his debit card or Apple Pay.

US customers don’t have Monzo.me (yet? @while-loop :eyes:), so this method won’t work the other way around. You won’t be able to send money to him.
