Mobile Networks

To be honest I am really against it unless there are tight restrictions.

Would be surprised if this makes it past the CMA.

Three was always good at increasing competition in the market. Mobile data is pretty good value in the UK compared to a lot of countries for this very reason.

Didn’t o2 and Three try and merge a few years back and got blocked - and that’s why o2 went off and merged with Virgin Media instead?

Hate to admit, but O2 purely based on how they are for me in North East.

Will find out about how it is in Manchester this weekend too, so if I remember, I’ll come back and choose an option if still live.

I think that’s the ‘issue’ with this sort of poll. No network is nationally ‘all good’ or ‘all bad’ - they all have their black spots and areas of good coverage.

So, the biggest factor in deciding this is definitely ‘what’s working where you most often need to use it?’

Other factors that are better to compare are things like 'what’s customer services like? what’s their web portal/phone app like? Do they have the product you want? (I switched years ago from Three to EE because I was getting an Apple Watch and Three didn’t support the Cellular watches back then), what extras do you get?

O2 for all the above to be fair.

CS has been fine, app and online portal is great, product wise good blanket coverage, roaming, flexible plans month to month, Volt benefits (double data), O2 priority for free coffee or sausage roll and other bits.

Vodafone has pretty good coverage, never had a signal issue, customer service is very questionable, VeryMe isn’t as great as Priority, app is fairly stable, unsure of other perks. Have always said it’s a good all rounder for coverage and connectivity (web).

Three is pretty fair across the board, CS questionable, app meh, Three+ also meh, 5G coverage and connectivity can be great in the right places, 4G has never been terrible for me personally.

EE great coverage and connectivity just expensive, app is functional, no perks as far as I know, would be considered if cheaper (1p mobile is available but still find expensive for data packages).

This is my preferable order as a whole.

It 100% is eligible if purchased sim only from them.

It is referring to external places which I don’t think anywhere does any more, such as car phone warehouse used to offer them.

I was in Jimmy’s for a few weeks 3 years ago and coverage on all networks was hopeless on the wards. Even in the Bexley Wing on the higher floors.

Fortunately, there was decent WiFi available.

In my experience O2 does not work in any populated areas.

Chester, Leeds never any connectivity.

Want to make the move to Three but still no eSIM support or visual voicemail

I think the only way Three will get that is if the voda merger adds the feature sadly.

Hullomail works well with Three but it’s £2.99 monthly or £12.99 annually.

£5 for 10gb data on O2, incl roaming and O2 Priority.

Found via MSE.

I have also found a 20GB o2 for £8 as well.
o2 where I am is actually okay as not many are on it but I fear travelling to other cities in the UK like Edinburgh or London given its rep.

I started on that £8 deal, now £37 or something with my 14 Pro Max in total

Lyca moving to EE is a fair surprise.

Wonder if that’s on their own back, or the regulator said you’ve too much having moved VM customers over, time to shift some about to make O2 a better network.

I got my £1 a month for an alternative to EE. Feels pointless now. I hope they keep Europe roaming at least for the next month until after my holiday……

£5 for 20gb if you’re a Virgin Media customer already

This made a huge difference. Vodafone’s coverage was way, way better than in previous years and EE, who until last year had the deal with Glastonbury, were much slower and less reliable this year.

O2 were also pretty hopeless at the festival.

The Lyca switch to EE has opened my eyes to how crap Vodafone is for me!
