Networks offer lots of discounts too, I got 20% student discount and it made it cheaper than Apple + an equivalent SIM only plan (although I think it’s a bit more expensive now because of the price increase)
Really watch out for sky. They have a habit of saying the contract is 24 months before you can get a new handset but the real length is 36 months before you can switch network. They just let you renew a year early. Really really scummy practice to be honest.
It’s a little clearer now at least trying a test order but it doesn’t make it clear it’s a 12 month sim.
I agree it could be clearer. Looks more like they give you options for 12 or 24 months, but reading the small print says it’s a 3 year contract for the phone.
Yeah, and then you realise that literally no other company markets their contract lengths in terms of when you can “swap your phone”, it’s typically the contract lengths themselves. That’s why it’s scummy, in my opinion. And why I agree with the person who first commented on it.
Everyone can read but that’s not the point being made.

You can have a separate phone plan with these, not sure what the payment provider is. Or the alt is Flex to buy outright.
Hotdealsuk usually has some good finds depending what you need/want.
Don’t like this practice at all. It’s a 36 month contract so it should be labelled as such.
EE does with some plans. They offer plans with Anytime Upgrades where you can swap it out after 12 months (or sooner with a fee. For flagship phones, upgrading 15 days → 6 months into a contract is £200, 6-12 months is £100, 12->end is just a swap)
Yep they do, not on every plan though. This is on the 14 Pro Max page and they offer plans with it for every phone as far as I can tell
15% off new iPhone pro is as good as I’ve seen - thanks for the recommendation ![]()
Kinda the reason I’ve always stuck with o2 so I don’t have get checked/searched again
I’ve never tried EE, heard it’s good for connection though especially as it has 5G in most of the UK while I sometimes barely get 3G in area ![]()
Same. Which is a shame because the signal is poor pretty much all of the time. I was with EE but left much for the same reasons and it was night and day in terms of difference.
EE’s the only network that works to my satisfaction in my area but I’ve always managed to negotiate a reasonable renewal price. I’m currently paying £24 pm for 125GB data with Apple Music and EU “roam like home” thrown in.
I left EE because prices were insane and my bill increased by £11 a month from April, but I honestly cannot describe the difference in speed/service compared to O2.
I had very little good to say about EE until I left. I have half regrets to be honest, but I’ll stick it out for the massively reduced monthly cost.
On the other hand my partner also moved to O2 from Vodafone and he says he doesn’t notice any difference, so he’s fairly happy with it. It’s all about perspective I suppose.
I moved from Three to O2 purely for the Volt benefits as well, broadband fizzing along at pushing 600Mbps now which does nicely
I felt the same before I switched to EE (was with Sky before and O2’s network is just atrocious and I’d had enough of it). The pricing put me off for so long but I’ve been with them 18 months at this point and I think it’s worth the premium. Signal is so much better, and their customer service has been great every time I’ve needed to speak to them too so I figure they’ve got to pay for all that somehow.
My only complaint is no Visual Voicemail for Android, on EE it’s only available for iPhones ![]()
I got a Black Friday deal for 300 for £27 a month, so bumping up is nice. 50gb of data as well with Volt, so plenty for when I’m working whilst charging the car
I’ve tried Vodafone, O2, 3 and EE. EE is actually in a league of its own. I rarely see it say 3G or anything below. It’s always a minimum 4G and now of course 5G. It’s the only network where I’ve never had to look at my signal when loading websites and doing day to day tasks because it’s so quick. The prices are extortion in comparison to the deals you can get, HOWEVER, they have amazing retention deals. Join EE at the best deal available, and always request a PAC at the end of the term you almost always get a call within 24 hours with a really good retention deal. I remember being offered something like 250gb data and EU roaming for £15p/m and that was recently. The speed might’ve been capped to 100 mbps but even that would do large number of cases.
I drove A19 down to A1 to Peterborough (190 mile) yesterday and back again today using voxi (Vodafone) and Kiss FM didn’t drop once as I stream it while sat nav.
Having done similar journeys on Three and O2, voxi was great.
