Is it 5G ultra though, tested by a Vodafone sim, or do you notice 5G on lebara/voxi/talk home?
Someone directly on Vodafone in the house has 5G. Donât know what kind it is.
Edit: I will go to town centre tomorrow and see if it makes a difference.
I am on Three and whenever I get 5G in the house I canât load even a Google search page, but the 5G in the town centre works well.
Fairs, they could be on Ultra coverage so worth checking the map.
I took the plunge.
Connects to 5G (unsure if SA - highly doubt it)
Works fine overall, WiFi calling also works.
These speeds are what I get on lebara too.
Quite like how it says âRevolut mobileâ
I have checked the 5G network status page, the area has just 5G, 5G ultra not yet available.
Should have connected by now if the other household member is able to. I only get 5G in the bedroom window, theyâve not activated MOCN here yet (using Threes signal).
Unlimited data AND unlimited social media, music and video. Two times infinity. Impressive.
Just to add something sensible (for once); itâs the same price as Smarty, which includes EU roaming (up to 12 GB/month) on Three network.
Done a little speed test myself while in the hospital yesterday. Two phones EE sim in one and mozillion sim in the other. 82 down on the EE. 40 down on the mozillion.
Tempted to jump ship from mozillion even tho my prepaid lasts till December
I have quick general question, if I may.
TL;DR
Is there an easy and free way to determine a mobile mastâs location from its cell ID?
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Iâm currently on Smarty and have always had reasonable speeds at home.
Recently I have noticed a very large uptick in speed and so decided to do a little digging.
The nearest Three mast to my home has been there for about 5 years or so (I noticed an improvement in speed after it was installed).
There is a Vodafone mast nearby (and with a better direct line of sight).
Iâve used Field Test mode (iOS) to get the mast ID and was wondering if there is any free and easy way to find the mast location from that.
Iâve now realised that that last paragraph should have been at the top, so;
Thanks for reading!
Actually, Iâll do my first ever TL;DR.
Are the two phones the exact same models? Different models may have different aggregation combinations meaning they wonât ultimately get the same speed or connectivity.
Search your location, or if on mobile allow it to find you automatically; then choose network operator Three, all bands, and then check all the local masts.
By tapping each mast youâll find the PCI as noted in iPhone field test mode.
EE sim was in an oppo find x3 pro, mozillion was in an iphone 14
The only way to really test is by switching the sims, they should in theory be the same level access unless the network is heavily congested then EE may prevail.
40mbps still great for mobile coverage. Calls should be the same across both.
In short yes but with the caveat that the maps are usually community based so cities can be reliable with rural less so. There are a few apps that can do what you want and websites such as https://opencellid.org/ that can assuming you have the MCC, MNC, LAC and Cell ID
There are also apps like Network Cell info Lite on Android that allow you to see more info about the cell servicing you and neighbouring cell info but you may not be on Android not sure if apple has similar
Any reason you need >40mbps?
Iâd say 95% of people barely need 10mbps. Latency is more important generally
I get 42 down, 7 up and itâs perfectly fine for what I do day to day. unless youâre wanting to do something like heavy gaming via hotspot anything between 5 and 20 down would suffice for basic browsing and video at 1080p. Higher speeds are mainly for streaming/gaming
I use id mobile and they give 30gb eu roaming but at the minute they have a promotion where u can use as much data as you want and there not putting prices up
Because itâs 40mbps at the hospital doesnât mean itâs also that at where I live
can confirm itâs worse.
wow and thatâs when people should get signal
Thanks. Did that and found that there is another mast near to the one that I thought was nearest (atop a block of flats). I guess they must have upgraded that one.
