Smarty eSIM if anyone’s a current customer, just replace the sim within the website/app.

New customers will be able to order soon.

Edit:

Existing Customers :bust_in_silhouette:

Already with SMARTY? You’re halfway there. Just log in to your SMARTY dashboard and request a SIM swap to eSIM. It’s that simple.

New Customers :sparkles:

Joining SMARTY? Great choice. Here’s how to get an eSIM for now:

  1. Order a regular SMARTY SIM. You can order here.

  2. Once your SIM has been dispatched, you’ll see the option to activate it in your SMARTY dashboard, and at that point you can immediately request a SIM swap to eSIM, if available.

Any recommendations for a SIM (or I guess eSIM too) with roaming in Europe? A family member is visiting from outside Europe and asked me to get one.

O2 is the best option? 25GB roaming for £15

Smarty also a decent option but only 12Gb of roaming data in the Eu and ID Mobile that also uses same network gives you up to 30Gb

ID Mobile roaming is broken therefore it’s your whole allowance atm.

Going to invest in this, £45 for a year, use across the globe. The apps included are perfect for my use; as I’d only really upload images etc back on WiFi.

I see they have iMessage now. Could be good for the kids tbh.

Yeah, along with WhatsApp and messenger and Apple Maps, mail app, that’s literally everything I’d need outside of WiFi.

Give it a try first if you’ve not already.

It’s such slow speeds that most of the apps they support hang for ages / load at all.

Love this concept just wish the speed was better, I found it almost unusable in places

Is there a speed restriction?

I second the slow speeds. Found it very difficult to use as most apps, as mentioned, hang or don’t load and can be impossible to use.

I have a feeling it’s 384kbps, or I may have just made that up.

Was the sim roaming on slow2?

Is it because the speed test page also refused to load?

Only text though…no pics or voice or video

Ugh that’s so annoying - my wife needed an eSIM so we literally just over the cooling-off period ago moved from Smarty to O2. O2’s signal has been a bit pants around here, so we’ll probably move back at the end of the contract.

I don’t know if this still works but when I was on O2 I was able to “upgrade” my plan to a more expensive but 30-day plan and then cancel to get out of my contract early.

Worked for me with O2 not so long back and also with Vodafone.

That’s a very good point actually. I did this with British Gas too not too long ago to get out of a contract with them. Thanks for mentioning that.

It’s a nice little workaround. Saved me months of misery with O2

My work phone is with O2 and it is universally awful. I travel around a lot too and I’m yet to find anywhere with good reception and performance on O2. Seems to be on 3G a lot of the time and pretty sure I’ve never seen 5G!
