Metro Bank Chat

Only that the one for Lloyds doesn’t require the referred to switch in an account.

The profit is amazing considering previous years but in the past few years they’ve sold off their mortgage book, 1,000 job cuts and closed branches haven’t they?

They no longer offer credit so struggling to see why they’d open more branches & where profits are coming from

Edit - can see it’s lending to businesses driving the profit

They’ve opened branches I believe, they’ve just reduced the hours - used to be 7 days a week

edite Sorry you did reference the branch openings.

@Pyros did you ever get credit checked for your current account with no overdraft?

I don’t think I did but Metro isn’t worth applying for imo… The no Open Banking support is problematic

I’ve already got the cash account, I’d just be doing it to get the Current Account card that’s different from the Cash Account card.

They do, even for additional accounts, even when you try to go joint attracts another hard search.

I moved house and changed address, they hard searched me twice. I contested it, they tried denying ever carrying out the searches for change of address I sent them screenshots with search references. They apologised and gave me a £50.

The only reason to open a Metro account was the magic money machine which is no longer offered. Had an account some years back. Found them officious. Their free pens were good though.

I never got a lollipop when I went in April '25. I did get the pen, and I agree that it’s a good pen.

Their pens had Parker type refills so you could use them in your Parker ballpoint. They were also dog friendly, having water dog bowls and allowing dogs inside the branch. When they opened near me they gave out some very useful shopping bags. Didn’t rate them as a bank unfortunately.

Metro do free pens!!! I’ve been going to NatWest with wire cutters!!!
