Ok so this is just hilarious now the map is in Amsterdam and the location is in Leeds these need to be locked as online transactions there’s no point having a location on it.
Not to mention the logo is outdated as well.

Someone at Monzo needs to actually look at these before taking action on the requests. This is why it was better when they had one person solely working on it, because they knew what they were doing.
Having all cops just work on it when they can means you get half done and incorrect data everywhere.
It’s got to the point where I’m putting the merchant name in the notes because I never know when the merchant name is going to change to something random and confusing again
This thread is so painful.
Why can’t a simple stop gap solution be put in place whilst we wait for further development to improve merchant data? A simple text box under the Twitter profile input would be sufficient to allow people to provide some rationale for each update submitted. Would this take much engineering time to implement?
Similar issue with @riverisland logo on my feed too submitted it maybe 4 times over the last week
Mitchell & Butlers actually own the harvester brand so possible issue at their end?
I have been saying this for more than a year. As they are now trialling Monzo Points it would be good to get users into approving merchant data. Let’s say that I send a new logo, 5/10 people would have to approve it for it to be updated in their database. These users would also get a couple of points every time they approve something.
This method would help avoid bias and keep consistency throughout the merchant data.
I cannot see this getting better especially with the US launch if they don’t crowdsource it.
This has in general never bothered me… until my Council Tax DD came out and the logo was the god awful twitter picture they use (its their help account not their actual account and isn’t even their logo).
So I sent a URL image to their exact logo, and a few days later, it changed to their other twitter account (Which is just a picture of the town hall - nothing to do with the company’s logo!).
Not the biggest deal in the world - but it looks like the overall system is working as intended (even if it is slow and has some errors)
Yes I agree this would be really neat.
But the bottom line is Monzo can’t be arsed with merchant data at the moment (or at least that’s what it feels like), which is quite sad. It’s integral to the Monzo experience in my opinion.
It is annoying when the data is incorrect but in the grand scheme of things I think this is a low priority.
Would much rather other things were worked on that would benefit me more. EG. Committed spending pots
Agreed, to me a wow factor when I started spending money with Monzo. Having logos, maps and more data in general.
Not a coincidence that legacy banks are now copying this.
I’m generally not convinced that crowdsourcing can/could work - it opens itself up to completely unmoderated changes in data and the possibility of throwing the system even further out of whack.
You’d only need 4 mates to completely decimate everything - not to mention the issue appears to be with franchises/ different terminals and set-ups (not entirely something Monzo can handle).
It did used to say Harvester and then at the bottom with the data it still says Harvester, seems a bit strange. But makes more sense if they are the owner.
Ah yes, let’s use the chain owners as the names and logos of restaurants. To save time, use the following logo for KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell
What?
I think Monzo match off the merchant codes that we do not see rather than the text string you do, which might explain that
Anecdotally it does appear though that an unenriched merchant takes its name by converting that name string to Title Case
All Wetherspoon app orders point to specific branch… should be generic.
Ironic… that it won’t even let me change it back
I’ve raised it with in app chat. The change shouldn’t have been approved as in theory it’s locked as per above screenshot.
Yep shows on my Wetherspoons order I bought in app today.
I’ve noticed that Spoons one too.
Do COPs not have to check the raw data to ensure that they are not making a change which is unhelpful for almost everyone?
I’d be very interested to read the procedure of updating merchant information, because it seems to so often lead to incorrect changes.
That no edits allowed screen seems to be an iOS only thing, as I seem to be able to on Android. It’s a very good idea, but is something that should definitely be on both OSs apps!
Same
Cops got back to me. They don’t understand what the issue is. @anon77734705 could you take a look when you’re next in work please
In app is treated as online as it won’t have individual terminal data to confirm the location
Oh wait are you referring to the name
