Meet the next generation: Monzo for Under 16s 🎉

I also get this when tapping on the notification and I’m on iOS.

Android I’m afraid.

I do get that screen, but clicking the next bit tells me there’s no card ordered.

If I click ‘card hasn’t arrived yet’, then I’m told no card is ordered.

Cards arrived this morning which is staggeringly quick. They look great. The kids are delighted with them

The cards for my 2 sons just arrived. All activated fine and they’re both delighted. It’s already led to some positive healthy financial discussion from them both which is wonderful to see including understanding the impact of purchasing V-bux on Fortnite!

FYI the cards won’t add to Google wallet (as it states on the kids phone that they’re too young at the moment when opening the Google wallet app (they’re 6 and 9) which is fine as they’ve never used it and they’re delighted with the physical cards.

That’s now pretty much a full complement of Monzo cards in our family (one max, one joint, one flex for me, one joint, one personal, one flex and two business ones for my wife and now 2 kids cards for the boys)

Yep…

Your child can add their Under 16s card to Apple Pay or Google Pay when they turn 13.

Another financial milestone for them to reach

As a Perks customer, I think it’ll be a nice feature to be able to gift my Greggs treat to one of my kids.

just screenshot the QR code and text it to them

Thank you for flagging - the cards’ squad are investigating the cause of this. In the meantime, they have confirmed this won’t impact your card order!

I have screenshots disabled within the privacy settings, so would have to disable each time, but a workaround nevertheless :+1:t3:

Both cards arrived today - very happy children

Gonna miss my yellow card when it expires next year :sob:

The new neon blue is nice but no coral core:

Then out of the drawer comes the Monzo Plus Lagoon Blue card to compare - pretty close!

(ignoring the crap lighting, the neon blue is a shade darker)

That’s cool, I was slightly worried with the link to a single adult that there wouldn’t be any integration into the wider Monzo environment. I’ve paused signup for my two just until I can satisfy myself of the features (need to be better than Rooster) from a banking perspective- so that potentially seems like a tick here, especially if JA can get involved (albeit in a slightly restricted fashion from the outset).

The only other thing that is causing food for thought, is the statement as part of the signup process which states that I can’t transfer ownership of the child account. Thinking ahead to when JA are involved with this, will that potentially mean to transfer ownership to JA I will have to close the child accounts and open a new one or just that it becomes a co-parent (once that feature is enabled)? Ie should I just hold my nerve here and beta testing isn’t appropriate for a JA holder?

We never got a card today. Hopefully tomorrow - maybe Scotland is just too far…

Hold your nerve.

While I’d like it to simply be tied to a Joint account, I can see the greater value in connecting it to 2 Personal accounts instead. So for now, it’s against one of our Personal accounts - mine, for testing
