Max plan travel insurance

Good morning everyone
I was looking at taking the max plan for the travel insurance however my daughter is 50/50 between me and her mum and they won’t cover that is my understanding which is completely bizarre
And feel penalised slightly over this.

I have found this to be a common issue for family travel insurance over the years as many have only covered children at the same address as the policyholder.

Mine live with their mom. It seems crazy to have to take out to separate policies for a family holiday.

I’m not sure where people are getting that children living with others are not covered.

I’ve reviewed everything I can find on the Max Family cover and even ran the documents through ChatGPT and found the following:

  • Spouses need to be living at the same address
  • Children just need to be under 19 (or 21 if in full time education), financially dependant on you, and unmarried.

Yes they do. If they are under 19, not financially independent they’re covered if named on the policy.

They don’t wording is they must live in same house hold also was confirmed by an Monzo agent so it’s definitely not allow if in different houses

It’s a shame as most other banks allow it

The T&C don’t mention anything them not being covered even if not permanently living with you , so you may want to speak to them (Monzo CS) again. It wouldn’t surprise me if they and the help article are outdated.

@AlanDoe

This is from the help article:

This is from the sign up flow:

So no, children don’t need to live with you for travel insurance.

Terms are here - https://monzo.com/legal/files/max-family/monzo-max-family-zurich-terms-and-conditions-1.0.pdf

When you go through the signup process just double check those are the right T&Cs for the travel insurance at the point of registration

Too much ambiguity as the references you’ve provided wouldn’t fill me with confidence they would not be covered in the need of a claim.

Which is why the IPID and T&C document exist. I’d personally ignore anything else be that in app/help page/cs/website.

Because that’s what really counts. The contract between Quover and Zurich that a person has.
