Mandating FaceID to use app - please don't do this

I saw this screen a few days ago in the app. Please don’t force me to use FaceID to open the app. I use all of your real security measures when making payments. Enabling FaceID to open the app isn’t real security, it’s security theatre. It also prevents me from using Monzo from my Mac via iPhone Mirroring. If anyone wants to require FaceID to open any app, iOS already supports that feature. Tap and hold an app icon and “Require FaceID” can be selected for any app.

Please don’t impose this feature on those of us who feel grown-up enough to make our own choices about our banking security.

I’m hoping it’s “we’ll turn it on but you can turn it back off” as it’s off by default when you sign up (well it always used to be)

If they make you have it on, it’s an awful decision.

Nope. They’ve done the dumb thing. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

This has been discussed somewhere else. Are you sure you can’t turn it off?

I get prompted for my PIN. I wish it let you use Touch ID instead.

If you turn it off, it forces you to enter your pin on launch. I don’t want either. I want read-only access without security, and security forced only if I try to change account or security settings, or make a payment.

I just tried iPhone mirroring. It asks for my pin. Anyone nearby can see which buttons I click. That’s a massive security DOWNGRADE.
