Kroo Bank Chat

It’s done this for me since I installed Android 13. Open Monzo, with any card/account in focus (carousel view) watch as it loads - or - scroll transaction list a little down/up & then watch. Flicker.

For a change of email? Seems a little strange. I’ve seen this for address etc from some banks but not just for email alone.

I’ve noticed a few merchants where the direct debit details aren’t recognised. Reminds me a bit of the early days of Monzo where there was an issue with that too!

Anyone else came across the same?

I’m not going to be using it for some time as the app is too clunky.

Setting O2 direct debit was fine.

I’ve just realised I’m old because I really don’t have the energy to go through growing pains of another consumer banking start-up…

Think it’s Monzo for me now, unless something awful happens.

I like the look of the card, but I agree with you.

Ruin Trends/export, move data visibility elsewhere, all for what sounds like a rather poor execution so far.

I didn’t move to Chase where I could have made money, I’m definitely not moving somewhere that sounds like will cause me hassle.

It feels very beta at the moment, and considering they’ve been around as a EMI for a while, and saw Monzo’s transition, they might have got some ground work right. Like @Revels I didn’t move to Chase even with Jamie Diamons free money machine, and this feels a bit too janky for me at the mo.

I often wonder this - Is it fair on new entrants to be held at a higher standard than we might’ve held Monzling to at the time when they were also Beta. No direct criticism of your comments, just something I keep thinking about when people (me included) try new fintechs out.

Should we see them as a new entrant and in isolation of any other fintech, or should we see them as if they should’ve learnt from the errors of others.

It’ll get there eventually. I had the same problem with Chase when they first started doing DDs, took a month or so before some places accepted their sort code.

It’s a fair challenge to us all, but the standards are now that much higher in terms of expectations and what you should expect out of the gate, which in some ways is unfair.

I agree to an extent. But when Monzo was new, the new things you didn’t get elsewhere. So you took the rough with the smooth.

Kroo (as far as I can see) doesn’t have anything that’s worth putting up with the problems, that you can’t get elsewhere.

The bar is higher now.

Others have made the point about a higher bar. I’ve got two others:

  • Monzling were very much disrupting the old, staid high street banks. New banks like Kroo are very much “me too”…
  • In fact, Monzo was the outlier in terms of public alpha and beta. Starling arrived pretty much fully formed. Dozens (RIP) was similar. So I think it’s a fair comparison.

Created an account and used for a couple of transactions.

Greggs don’t have a logo is all I’ve figured so far :joy:

Wilko doesn’t either. My premier stores (local shop) showed as premier Inn. Raised it in chat and they said they’ve sorted it and will resolve on next purchase :eyes:

Sainsbury’s did have a logo but now it doesn’t

Out of curiosity - what sort code does Kroo use

My former Kroo account had 04 00 72
Well, it was way before it became a bank

I guess imagine if a new phone company released a phone as a beta but it was only like a Nokia 3310… we’d expect at least a smartphone now… fact is ground work on things has been done and there is at least a lowish bar that needs to be started off at as a minimum now.

I use Kroo at the moment for spending and I had to add an extra £1 into the account to get the balance to what it needed to be.
The transaction is now under review ; spoke with the bank the payment came from and they have approved it okay and shows in the transcations.

I get it’s good to be monitored for Fraud etc, but for £1 seems rather silly!
