ITV X - the new streaming service from ITV

Wow. Looks dated before launch!

That was my first thought. The new number font looks quite old fashioned and doesnt really match the ITV font. I dont really get why they decided to change it to be honest. And i really dont get whats going on with ITV Be.

This is the one time i actually hope ive spread fake news because if real, they are a downgrade, and i didnt even like the ones we have now too much to be honest.

Aren’t those Monzo’s new colours? :joy:

With them altogether the whole thing looks dreary. I can’t believe the people in charge thought this was good when presented to them by the design team. I know it’s already been said but with itvx included with the others it makes me think it’s their x-rated channel  Oh dear itv!

Let’s not forget the bad naming choice for the new service. They desperately need a new agency for these things.

Yep. I have heard so many people reference the adult sounding name of the channel. I get that they want to create a distance between ITV Hub and ITVX but surely they could have found a better name if they were so intent with renaming it?

What a surprise, ITVX is now launching in the middle of the World Cup

I’m surprised Microsoft hasn’t taken legal action yet. A chunky green X against a dark background? Could they be any more evocative of the original X-Box branding?

And it hasn’t gone unnoticed either. Many people online are either comparing it to XBox or mentioning it sounding like an adult content site. And I’m also really confused why they are deciding to launch it in the middle of a major event. There will then be essentially no testing before any big matches plus you have the added confusion of it simply changing when people probably aren’t expecting it to be. Do you really want people watching one match and then the next match being on a completely different platform?

There’s no way they would’ve chosen that date to launch deliberately.

Looks like it’s been delayed probably because of technical issues but I suspect they still want to have it launched before the World Cup Final.

The 9th Dec is when it’s the Quarter Finals. I wouldn’t be surprised that if ITV then provide any clips of the games they’re showing to other media/news outlets, the logo that’ll be shown in the corner will be the ITVX one instead of ITV1.

I agree. It’s clear to me that they’ve intended to launch earlier, had to push it back (issues discovered in testing?), but really don’t want to push it back any further (possible penalties for not launching in 2022/have already signed off on closing down older technologies)?

So, to get an idea though about what sort of exclusive content ITVX will have.

TVX will premiere a collection of top quality new dramas on 8th December, which will only be available for free on the streamer. ITVX’s inaugural commissions which will be available on launch day include hotly anticipated six-part cold war drama A Spy Among Friends starring Damian Lewis and Guy Pearce, provocative new teen drama Tell Me Everything, powerful period drama The Confessions of Frannie Langton starring Karla-Simone Spence, Sophie Cookson and Patrick Martins and Plebs: Soldiers of Rome, the feature-length special finale to the popular comedy series.

At least one flagship show will then launch on ITVX per week going forward. Litvinenko starring David Tennant and Mark Bonnar will launch on Thursday 15th December, and high stakes family drama Riches starring Deborah Ayorinde and Hugh Quarshie will launch on 22nd December alongside landmark natural history documentary A Year on Planet Earth, presented by Stephen Fry. Gripping four-part thriller Without Sin starring Vicky McClure and adrenaline-fuelled new game show Loaded in Paradise will launch on 28th December. Nolly, Russell T Davies’ upcoming drama on Crossroads’ Noele Gordon, will launch in early 2023.

That was my thinking as well. No one would deliberately want to launch then, but they obviously want/need to launch before the world cup ends for whatever reason. They will just be praying absolutely nothing goes wrong when they do decide to launch as any failures will be watched by a lot of people (who will likely be pretty angry if something goes wrong during football).

Let’s just hope they are better than the standard ITV drama. So many start of well and just get a bit ā€œoddā€ and way too far-fetched towards the end.

I think ITV also need to confirm what is happeneijg with ITV Hub+ and Britbox subscriptions, especially as some people have both.

Now that definitely sounds like an 18+ channel…

He added: ā€œWe are going to come from being average in the field to leagues ahead – it’s going to be way better than [BBC] iPlayer.ā€

I do question how. iPlayer is pretty obviously the best TV catch up service in the UK and based on what we know, iPlayer will still do a better job with everything. The only thing that seems to be a major difference is the FAST channels, which I still dont see the point of and I doubt Ill be the only one.

And also ITV Hub wasnt average. It is probably one of the worst platforms we have, along with Britbox.

Looks like they are properly starting to advertise their ITVX shows now

Its probably already been said further up somewhere, but that green X just screams the original Xbox to me
