They could also take the opportunity to wipe out Premium and Plus, get rid of Extra and include it all for free.
Increase the cost of Perks to £9, people can downgrade to standard but they don’t have to goodwill the railcard cost by any means.

I don’t really see this happening unless it’s causing expense to maintain them.
they’ll know the numbers but doing zero development on it & retaining even a 50,000 users using it every month could be too lucrative to lose.
Extra becoming free would be good - all with one virtual card & connected account instead of 5/unlimited probably.
Ah, I didn’t realise this! They’ll do that then ![]()
Extra is a nice subscription for them though. Virtual cards cost a bit to provision, and accessing the credit report will have a cost per weekly pull. But they must be making a decent profit on extra.
With the banks status, it won’t cost them much to ditch the old plans and simplify their product line.
People will sign up to Max no doubt, or whatever Monzo One is.
Removing Extra, giving a free virtual card and connected accounts, might bring in more revenue for those who use Starling or Revolut for those free options, thus more revenue.
Credit reports will still be included with Perks, but tbh anyone signing up to pay money for their credit report they can access for free elsewhere is pretty daft.
Is Monzo One mentioned somewhere and do we know what the YT offer is?

YouTube: Premium Lite included with Perks & Max
Looks like Lite doesn’t include “jump ahead”, background play or queuing(?!). I use those things all the time so that, plus the risk of ads on some videos.. I’d rather keep paying full price.
Now if you could pay £5 extra to upgrade to full Premium that would be good
YouTube ads on desktop don’t bother me, my adblocker seems to deal with most. But the amount of ads I have to watch on my phone just to get the DannyGo teeth brushing video drives me bonkers. Maybe I’ll upgrade!
VPN > Albania.
Not sure why setting the routing of a VPN to Albania is not allowed but hey.
I wonder if this is when they’ll finally kill off the Plus tier
I did this but India for YouTube before (and before that Ukraine). At £1 a month it felt worth it, especially as it included YouTube Music.
Eventually my card expired and I wasn’t able to add a British card for Ukrainian/Indian payments anymore.
Might have to actually invest in opening a Turkish bank account for cheaper subscriptions. Gotta save some money to make up for the service exemption fee ![]()
I think YouTube just don’t/didn’t serve ads in Albania. No premium required just no ads.
So glad I downgraded the other day. Perks were getting more and more irrelevant to me. The card I ordered didn’t even get activated - appalling quality.
Would be interesting to see what’s next for Extra, but anything more than £3 and I will reshuffle my personal finance again for free tier.
This.
Or use the Brave browser which blocks all their ads.
The blue one?
I thought it was really quite nice. Certainly better than my Bold Coral card quality.
There should be a standard hot coral waiting at home for me today though, as I’m done with perks for now.
Next June when my Railcard expires I may look to subscribe to Perks again, as that does have an equivalent value of £35 (which out of a £108 subscription is pretty good value, alongside the Greggs (minimum £1.35/week value as long as you’re actively going anyways, which I will as there’s a Greggs 2 mins away from my uni) and YT Premium Lite.
No the hot(?) coral. Not a fan of the coral text on blue background either so that’s clear Perks isn’t for me. Think I’ll have to agree with @JayTay that straying from Coral feels off-brand.
It definitely fits city dwellers where you deffo commute, have takeaways or pass a Greggs at least once a month. I already have YT Premium so YT Lite is obsolete.
Perks has paid for itself with the railcard, Uber One and the Vue tickets, less fussed about Greggs. So a couple of quid more won’t be a killer.
