I don’t think adding YT premium lite justifies raising the price. Sure, it’s a perk but people should have the option to opt-in or add an additional fee of £2 exclusive to max members.
As it is I already don’t use some of the perks like Greggs treat but I have max because I want the insurances and breakdown as a ‘just in case’.
Basically what I’m saying here is that when you add in so much it only creates value if you actually use the stuff otherwise it’s just a price increase on a product you already have.
Maybe consider switching partnership from Vue to Odeon also as that’s another thing I don’t have a Vue cinema nearby so a choice would be nice.
I’ll be pricing up and looking at switching I think.
I was already on the fence about keeping Max and cancelled it today after I got the price increase email. Will get phone and travel insurance elsewhere. I already pay for YouTube Premium (Lite isn’t enough for me) and didn’t use any other benefits besides the occasional Gregg’s treat and the interest rate but most of my savings are elsewhere already because even the Max rate is weak… There isn’t much tying me to Monzo these days and I’m already looking to see if there are better alternatives for me.
YouTube Lite is an odd one. Its so easy to get YouTube lite in so many ways.
For example most of the plans worth having for Google One include it. If it had been YouTube premium then it would have made sense. Or instead of this upping the percentage off on food and drinks at Vue to 15% would have been better imo..
Also a very good point. It just doesn’t make sense to include this and charge more. At some point you have to ask does a bank account really need this stuff added to it just for the sake of being able to sell an account as a subscription.
Scrsp the YT. An option between a weekly / monthly cinema ticket or Game pass or PS+ is a much more attractive proposition imo. Also make the Uber one a full membership and not tied to the specific Monzo card.
But then playing devils advocate, they aren’t always going to be able to offer perks you want. So therefore offer you a variety of perks some of which work to your favour, some of which don’t.
Lloyds for example offer a choice of perks but you choose one and loose access to the others I think?
At least here some of them get used and occasionally I might get use out of them. For example the Greggs perks are useless to me because I feel like eating or drinking anything from Greggs is an admission you’ve given up on life and don’t care about food. I used to give the voucher to someone before. But I don’t anymore. Uber One perks are of limited use to me as I don’t use Uber enough. But when I do I’m happy to get the cash back. However I am making use of the lower fees on pensions and higher rates on savings etc. As well as the Vue ticket and the Railcard. SO on balance I guess its okay.
