I’m curious about how you’re thinking of using this too, as it seems for sharing the text link makes more sense. QR codes are generally used to share a link the ‘real’ world by showing it to someone. Certainly receiving an image of a QR code on my phone is a lot more hassle than receiving the actual link.

Someone (not me) runs the work coffee club. They invite donations on a poster giving a Monzo me link. I suppose a copy of the QR code might be useful in that circumstance? (But then again I’d screenshot it, if I really wanted to do that, I think).

This just got me thinking… Would it be possible to use a QR code or Monzo.me link to pay into pot via a virtual card @johnyorke - so like in this instance the person who runs the coffee club doesn’t want the donations to land in their current account?

Edit: brain fog, as soon as I hit send I realised this wouldn’t work

Why not?

I don’t see the need to complicate things by using virtual cards, but the ability to send money directly into pots (maybe by using specific references on the payment) would be massive.

Then all you need is an extra part of the link / QR to direct the money.

that’s the bit where i realised it wouldn’t work, at least in the sense of how I said it, cause Monzo.me goes to an account number and sort code rather than card details

But yeah if there was a way to do it, I’d really like it

or use one of the many free QR code generators out there to create a QR code for your monzo.me URL…

(not that I’m against the idea of being able ot share it from monzo)

Agree about the business use. Get a free Rev Pro account for the car boot. You can even buy a Rev card reader very cheaply to go with that account.

It’s not single use. The QR code is the web url wrapped up.

Hey all,

Thanks for the iOS 17 reports. The QR code seemed to work fine in betas 1 & 2, but Apple have a published ‘known issue’ present in betas 3 & 4 that we think might be related.

We’re re-testing on each beta release and are hoping it will be resolved on their end before the final build.
