Introducing Monzo Flex – a better way to pay later 🚀

Curve Credit is disappointingly low on the limits. I expect they might ramp it up now, though!

£30 to £3000 I think

Just merge this with my overdraft and be done with it! :tada:

This sounds really good :open_mouth:

So if I’m skint towards the end of the month, I can free up some cash (for free) by “Flexing” a previous transaction until payday?

Then I’ve read that you can simply pay it off early for no fee either :exploding_head:

Looks like it! When you flex they return the transaction amount instantly then just take the first installment there and then.

If it’s interest free for three payments, can someone explain how Monzo makes money with this? Is it simply attracting users to the platform and absorbing the cost of providing credit for those three months?

Because longer terms attract interest

And attracting users

Lots of times people will pay it over longer, longer term with decent interest makes people buy things now rather than save for it. You need to have a Monzo account so that will make money

Might depend on your credit record?

Both Tymit and Current Credit have given me decent limits and Monzo Flux only seems available upto £3,000

Quezzie…

Will Flex payments be identifiable in the Google Sheets export?

It is a new product and over time they might start to increase the limits to be a little bit higher. However some times higher value items it might be cheaper to take out a Monzo Loan

They offer loans aswell and dont want to be losing business on that. Loans are more appropriate for things 3K and above. You can pay them off early like flex

There are lots of perks for being staff, but we don’t get discount on paid products or anything like that!

Google sheets needs new tabs, now we can pay from pots directly.

And also for Flex (kicking and screaming back on topic).

Products gotta be good enough to buy with your own dolla, am I right?

That’s certainly one of the reasons - build something you’d pay for it :smirk:

On the list.

Depending on how this will work, my Tymit card is in danger of going in the bin.

I signed up and got Flex - set the limit to £500 just to make sure I don’t ‘treat’ myself to anything too extravagant :money_with_wings:

Randomly and annoyingly, before I accepted the invite to join flex list; my virtual cards icon on my main accounts list showed the flex logo on it, and not the virtual cards, when I went in and came back out of it, it’s returned to normal and I can’t now trigger it to show you :joy:

Maybe someone not signed up to the waiting list could possibly trigger this and screenshot? I’m a Plus customer if that makes any difference.

But yeah, good product, shame about the interest rate and none physical card but hopefully in time that comes :sunglasses:

A boost to Monzos profitability over the next year :crossed_fingers:t3:

You’re not doing it right

Can you increase your credit limit at a later stage? Or would that require another hard search.

Is there a hard credit search to start with?

I have done multiple CASS this month, so my credit report looks a bit sketchy at the moment, however, other than credit cards, that I pay in full each month, I don’t use credit.
