To many who don’t see behind the curtain of how fintech and authorisations etc work - it looks to be that they are being hard done to in some way.
Answer of “well it’s all about the Mastercard presentment authorisation doppleganger, when the kubernites docker instance replicates on authorisation, we then have to invoke the scalable AWS to activate dynamic loading of …”
Which may be true but customer sees “I’ve been charged £100 for a transaction that is pending”.
Curve used to have a similar problem with authorisation being immediately charged to an underlying card.
Curve not do something similar as you suggest for hotel or rental deposits authorisations and automatically delay charging the underlying card if certain conditions are met.
It is usually refunded ahead of my first bill date. And even then I am happy to free up my available limit with a 1/12th repayment, plus any interest will be refunded.
It is much nicer than regular credit cards. Because with Monzo I get notification when the hold is taken, and also when it is refunded. The other credit cards often do not notify or show pending transaction, and it silently dissapears without a trace. With amex - it often shows refunds/Auth cancellation as a new purchase (same sign on the amount as the original transaction when refund is pending) which causes even further confusion.
So for me flex for auth works better than regular credit cards.
I’m getting an error when trying to go into the Uber transaction for 0.18p. I waited a while and it still isn’t loading, despite all other transactions opening
@TomMills Could this be due to the fact that the additional 0.18p was added after I actually arrived at my destination as an additional charge? If so, is this expected behaviour after nearly 24 hours?
Somewhat annoying how Flex does not report to Equifax, would like to see that in the future. Obviously definitely not a huge deal, but it’s a “would be nice” thing
Just realised that what would actually be good, is to have the option to split the bill with my partner (who also has Flex) and for him to have the option to add it to his Flex card (if he has the available funds). I’ve just bought flights for Christmas that were quite expensive and he needs to pay half, but can’t afford to at the moment. We could take it in turns to flex things but it is all getting a bit messy! OR Flex for joint accounts
Is there any update on being able to change your payment date? I’ve changed jobs, so the date I get paid has changed, and I keep going into my overdraft for the couple of days between Monzo flex payment going out and my pay coming in. This would be one simple thing Monzo could do the make my financial woes much better in this challenging time!
Really loving Flex at the moment, but just to say again (because I am using it quite a lot for joint purchases), having the ability to request that half of the flex be added to my partners Flex would be SO SO SO helpful. At the moment I would say 75% of the things I have flexed are things that my partner should be paying half of, but as with me, can’t afford to buy outright currently.
Thanks Matt. I’m in the same boat, so would love it too! It’s on the long list of things we want to build, but not something we’re actively working on.
I’d also like to ask for a ‘Pay all off’ option - I’m testing the card on lots of small things and would like to pay them all in one go now instead of having to wait,
I’m not a huge fan of Flex impacting my overall balance. I’ve put quite a lot on Flex this weekend and now the app says I’m overdrawn looking at that top net figure.
I do understand why it’s done as you want to paint the whole picture, but it isn’t giving me a great look for my finances.
I know I’m not overdrawn, there’s money in my main account, but now it’s forcing me to add up the pots myself. As pots are a huge part of budgeting for many, this seems counterintuitive.
Yup! I just used my Flex card, haven’t paid anything off yet and it’s taken the full amount off my £10k daily allowance.
So, query here, would paying my flex bill early via the button in app inadvertently trigger a missed payment note on my credit report?
I’ve been doing this on pay day to save a few pennies on interest and just know it’s paid, however, on my latest credit rating it’s dropped a few points due to a missed payment…… I haven’t missed a payment so this is the only thing I can think could have done this, I assume by mistake on Monzos reporting side or should we avoid the pay early button like the plague !?!
