Introducing Monzo Contents Insurance ✨

Hi everyone! :waving_hand: I’m Hernan, Product Manager for Insurance at Monzo and I wanted to drop in to let you know about our newest launch: Contents Insurance :sparkles:

We know that insurance products can be confusing and overwhelming for many people. Getting a quote can involve answering endless, complicated questions, and then managing your policy can be a bit of a faff. You might get hit with fees to make changes to your policy, fees to cancel your policy and you often have to commit to at least a few months (but often up to 12 months).

I’m proud to share that we’ve built a product that not only offers the cover you need to protect the stuff you care about, but is magically simple to use too. We’ve built a speedy application journey with customisable cover so you can pick and choose what’s right for you. And then once you’re set up, you can manage your cover, and make and track claims all from your Monzo app.

Get covered fast
Go from quote to covered in just 5 questions. We only ask what we need to know and fill in what we already know about you for the rest.

Personalise your policy
Choose how much you’re covered for, including special, high-value items, and immediately see how customising your policy impacts the price. We’ll explain all the different add-ons as you go so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Make changes or cancel for free anytime
Life’s full of changes. You need a policy that keeps up, and keeps you insured. Add high-value items, change how much you’re covered for or increase your excess at any time with no fees. Even cancel anytime for free.

Claim in-app or over the phone
Make a claim in the app at any time and we’ll explain what to expect at every stage. Want to speak to someone? Just pick up the phone.

We’ve partnered with an insurer called Chubb to offer contents insurance. Chubb is the underwriter – they provide the cover and are responsible for managing, approving and paying out approved claims.

We are the distributors of the insurance which means we’re responsible for offering the product and setting up your policy. We’ll collect your monthly payments, as well as help you manage, change or cancel the policy.

We’re rolling out Monzo Contents Insurance over the next few weeks so hold tight if you can’t spot it in your app yet!

Monzo current account required and must be open for the whole insured period. UK residents aged 18+ only. Excess applies to all claims. Ts&Cs and exclusions apply.

Let us know your thoughts and feedback in this thread. As always, the team and I will be around to answer questions.

Have just seen this posted, Monzo to soon launch its own Contents insurance in app.

Also says it paves the way for ‘Monzo Insurance’ so expect to see a wider insurance offering later down the line - car and home for example.

Where did you see it? Can you share the link(s) please?

I like the look of this, but I don’t trust ANYTHING posted this morning.

I fear it will be one of those great Monzo features that costs just a little bit too much to be appealing.

Person is in charge of insurance offering at Monzo posted on LinkedIn.

Not sure I should put their name here but easy enough to find.

Oof yeah bad time to post this.

It came from their head of insurance on LinkedIn though so pretty sure it’s legit.

Always good to post the actual full info - even more so on the 1st April. Their profile is public, so it’s fine to share…

It’s here:

No use to me without buildings cover. I suppose the traditional Monzo demographic is probably most likely renting, though.

I have this and it feels very polished and slick. The rate is very competitive but not quite good enough for me to consider switching.

In case it helps others, I found it under home screen → scroll to the bottom-> Do more

I mean I guess it’s good to be adding more things.

Still, with this and the pensions just feels a little disjointed. But I would imagine if you’re completely satisfied with the current account then you’ll probably enjoy these new additions.

Some glowing reviews for Chubb

Ah yes, AMEX use Chubb and it’s a pain in the rear.

I just think Monzo need to fully focus on getting their current features working 100% first before firing out other stuff. :joy:

Yep, nobody is going to remember how easy the sign up flow was when they have a nightmare getting a claim paid out.

Revolut used Chubb historically and it was a dire experience going from the reviews.

I’m guessing it’s an April Fools.

Nope.

It’s in the app.
