I presume you took the sausage roll to the till and then said. “I have a QR code for this”?
I went to the till and said I had a voucher for a free sausage roll… they asked me to scan the QR code on the reader and bagged one up for me. I don’t know what I was expecting but it seemed much easier than I thought it would be ![]()
In review it does make me think the Premium plan is still better overall - (for me, at least) - though it does make me question when that will get stopped for existing users anyway.
I’d be interested in Ranking said features to give them a proper value benefit analysis.
Maybe a poll is needed…
Wow ![]()
You can see how when you strip off some of the things from the original plans how bare the new plans would have looked. Then it appears they’ve tacked on sausage rolls and some extra £5 expenses to pad them out a bit more.
Monzo Premium cancelled - Revolut Metal ordered. Only because it suits me far better. I guess it is whatever floats your boat.
I’d have gone Max if I was eligible for a rail card, as the monthly fee would be offset by my adventures.
Rail is an absolute con here.
Probably also lose the car, and save even more money!
The Credit Insights feature is honestly groundbreaking. It’s better than looking through purpose-built apps like ClearScore or Credit Karma, hats off to the developers on this one ![]()
The flow of going through the upgrade was also brilliant, Extra is well worth the £3 a month in my opinion!
Insurance-wise, I’ll be keeping Nationwide FlexPlus simply because it’s family travel insurance, family mobile phone insurance and breakdown cover for £13 per month which is hard to beat. Also unlimited fee-free withdrawals abroad and unlimited cash deposits using the machines or in a branch.
But Monzo will remain my main bank ![]()
And from what I can tell Offers are going too? Or aren’t part of this plan - which helped offset some of the fees from time to time.
Most interesting I think is the routine of Old Plans Out / New Plans In every few years.
I imagine the same conversations in 3 years about Max being replaced by Ultra.
Is the credit monitoring feature just Equifax, or does it include other agencies?
Ah just found it it’s TransUnion and Equifax
‘Offers’ as they exist in Plus/Premium are going (celebrations begin). But ‘partners’ will become more involved with Perks/Max. Think ‘Greggs’ and ‘Railcard’ in Perks/Max as ‘Offers’ in Premium.
aka: offers that people will actually use.
Thinking of trading Max for FlexPlus, not much difference and I spend £6 on coffee each week at greggs anyway, so it’s a small saving to be made.
I don’t have a family so the other bits don’t concern me, monzo don’t want any additional costs for pre existing conditions (it’s a 0.01% chance my condition would impact my holiday), and phone insurance is a need.
The bit I’m thrown by is the AA vs RAC.
Anyone shed any light?
Edit: with my usual Greggs, £2 x twice a week, so £8 a month saving, making Max £9pm.
I love the lounge access and use it regularly so won’t be switching ![]()
Oh, hello me!
Not too fussed on fuel finding. Usually just go supermarket as I never put more than £10 every two weeks on a good month.
RAC with monzo comes with onward and home cover.
Only ever used AA once, and that was recent. Here within 40 mins or so, told me I needed a new battery and wanted £160 for it.
Purchased a new battery next day £40 or something, fitted for free.
Spending is fee free with Monzo, it’s cash withdrawals exceeding your allowance is where it might sting.
It’s the European AA cover that makes Flex Plus such a no-brainer for me.
(Impressed to see Monzo includes that as well as previously the only packaged accounts to include that were Flex Plus and one of the Co-op accounts. And I know Nationwide are prehistoric in parts but I’ve always had pretty good service from them.)
Halifax also add in home emergency cover, which is of some additional value (although up to you how you value it) and it’s possible to offset £5 of the fee each month via their £5 Reward Extra, so effectively the actual cost of the account works out at £12 a month. Which is actually slightly less than Nationwide (admittedly the insurances across the two are not like-for-like).
most people probably wont be signing up for max, cancelling straight away, signing up for perks and then cancelling it a week later
The RAC covers Europe too briefly reading the terms.
