Introducing Extra, Perks and Max

Burnt Coral (Max). Camera doesn’t do it justice.
It does shimmer like the old Plus Holographic card

Looks better in the second photo tbf @BurnyCubbers77

The Railcard will live in the Trainline app, so there won’t be a physical version I’m afraid. Let me know if there’s anything else that’s not clear

I’ve added a photo of it with light shining on it, which shows the shimmer.
Ignore the dust and what looks like scratches. That’s purely from my camera and the card is pristine.

Is the Max an Elite Mastercard?

Can confirm that it says “world elite debit” on the back

That’s fine, for you!
For others the Greg’s weekly treat and railcard is a good offer. I will be upgrading from Plus to Perks and essentially will save a lot more money :slightly_smiling_face:

I wonder how much it cost to introduce all these new cards knowing most will scrap perfectly usable cards just to get the up to date versions when they choose to upgrade.

That mastercard logo looks like a sticker - not a brilliant card quality.

A word of caution here - not all ‘world elite debit’ cards are the same. This like the HSBC one isn’t as good as the Lloyds one, since Monzo didn’t pay for additional benefits such as fast-track security etc.

Im not young…

But we have taken the railcard option as the boss (aka the wife) wants to go to London for a day out, and with the railcard we got yesterday upgrading to max we save around £50 on the tickets…

So MAX has paid for itself for the next 2 months…

Greggs is getting a bit offer heavy with o2, Octopus and now Monzo, but hey almost everyone likes a dirty Greggs…
Also when talking into consideration all the other insurances we still save money on Travel and Mobile Phone insurance…

And to be fair to Monzo they cant please everyone all of the time… and people need to realise that…

Yeah if the Greggs included a bacon roll I’d be on Perks immediately, but am sadly not a sausage roll fan

So if we’re to assume from the current 500,000 members currently in the paid accounts (according to the upgrade screen) that’s in theory a cool £2.5m spent on cards.

I just got this even though I signed up yesterday

But it isn’t a net loss and those customers have cards anyway, at some point. You might keep Coral and now the beauty of Extra being that there is no card, so that’s £3 towards the bottom line.

Same here! I clicked upgrade midway through a work call and flicked through a few screens before putting it down until after my call. I then upgraded after the call so it’s registered us as ‘abandoning’ the upgrade most likely

I’m pretty sure this was exactly 24 hours since I viewed the upgrade screen for the first time

Yeah, I’m not saying it’s bad for Monzo, I’m just emphasising the colossal scale and cost involved in doing something like this.

You also have to remember those that want to remain on their current account and not up or downgrade, they still have to keep those cards in circulation, until they inevitably boot people off onto the new accounts.

I love this new iteration of the subscription accounts. For me personally, I absolutely love the UI, customer experience and the product offerings provide value to me…

Although… I am SO bored of the same handful of people being insanely negative… somehow taking offence that the account wasn’t designed to their specific, individual needs and expectations. I’ve said it before and I will say it again… These accounts are built to provide value to the largest percentage of Monzo’s customers. Just because you don’t eat at Greggs (I also don’t… but will now be grabbing my morning coffee there once a week as a treat) and your insurance needs are slightly different or you get 0.2% higher interest rate on some other account. Monzo are creating a packaged account which suits the MAJORITY of their customers, proven by their study of 45,000 customers being involved!

Rant over. Well bloody done Monzo

For me, specifically to Max:

  • Travel insurance improvements if you upgrade to Family cover. You’re asking someone to pay £5 a month extra but the insurance doesn’t get better. I actually now think the insurance is good for an individual. For example, baggage limits etc are more suited to one person travelling.
  • An ability to see a reduction in monthly cost if you had a salary range in, or even through cashback
  • Re-addition of other travel benefits. For example, lounge access (which is more than just lounges, my HSBC one for example can be used to reduce the Starbucks bill which as anyone who goes there knows can be expensive when its a family of four :eyes:) plus free fast track

They are the main points. I appreciate you can’t build the perfect product for everyone, and you shouldn’t build it with everything people ask (a.k.a the Homer car in product land) but this would make me reconsider not coming back to Monzo.

Mine took about 6 hours to eventually load but has a transunion and no equifax score. Checked this morning and that’s still the case.
