One of my pals is from Barrow- I visited them over Christmas. It’s quite a small place but the people are lovely. I’d wager everyone knows everyone there.
I LOVE cats. All animals, pretty much. It wouldn’t be responsible to own any right now when I’m not settled yet so I live vicariously through other people’s pets.
Since I’m commenting on here anyway, I’m Eve, from Singapore but I’ve been in Manchester for four years (doing an MA in English Lit and American Studies atm).
I am passionate about current affairs, feminism, animals, calligraphy, manga, good food, travelling… I recharge by staying in bed with copious amounts of tea, books, and mobile games when I’m all socialised out. Also de-stress through online shopping- my favourite thing is to buy many tiny things so I never know what I’m getting each time I get post. It’s like a gift to myself from myself, so I know I’m going to like it. Do not recommend this behaviour. It is not endorsed by Monzo as a healthy spending habit.
I wouldn’t call myself an extrovert but I have met up with a lot of online pals, usually off Instagram. I like pretty things for the “aesthetic”. If you have a cute feed let me know Currently into plants and I have only killed four over 5 months so it’s going alright I guess.
Heyo! I’m Brenda, and I work in Customer Operations at Monzo. Specifically, I work in the Call and The Gang squad, replying to your wonderful tweets and picking up the phone
I’m originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, but have been living in the United Kingdom for 7 years. More random facts:
Would love to get to know you all better, so here’s a question from me to anyone reading. What has been your favourite pop culture moment of the past two years been so far? (Considering we’re so early into 2018). Mine has been Sasha Velour winning the latest season of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Hi Eve! Nice to meet a fellow SEA person here Just curious, what is the Singaporean dish you miss the most? (When I’m away, I crave roti canai like anything else). @evangelskies
Hello! I’m Jonny, and I also work in the Call and the Gang squad in Customer Operations at Monzo alongside Brenda I’m a particular fan of using GIF’s to respond to you all on Twitter!
I’ve come over to Monzo after working for a long time at Costa ️ followed by TSB. Still have an obsession with coffee, always trying to perfect my Flat White technique!
Originally from up North on the Staffordshire/Cheshire border (you can’t beat a good Staffordshire Oatcake!), followed by a 3 year love affair with Manchester, and now living down near Cambridge.
Random/fun facts:
Feel free to say hello, nice to meet you all!
Omg hi we are practically neighbours! My dad is from Sabah and we used to go to the gorgeous islands for holidays.
I don’t even know where to begin, tbh! I love steamboat, xiaolongbaos, and bak kwa- and I miss local food like char kway teow, fried carrot cake, 鱼片汤, chicken rice, roti prata, and eating at caifan stalls. I can’t really eat spicy food (I steal rice from my bf’s nasi briyani) but I love laksa and tom yum flavoured pretz. Manchester has great Japanese food and alright Vietnamese food but shit Chinese food. I dislike “asian fusion”. I’ve been to London for food during high school reunion dinners with other Singaporeans and I honestly loathe paying £30 for steamboat. I miss having cheap food options mostly, since I eat a lot of Japanese food and I can still get that here.
Edited to add that I’m in London this weekend for CNY dinner but any food recommendations? Is Din Tai Fung open in London yet? I eat their xiaolongbaos three times a week whenever I’m home
OMG £30 for steamboat is outrageous! IDK if Din Tai Fung is open here yet (I’m here in KL for a week working remotely for Monzo) but now you got me thinking about xiao long baos
Yauatcha is pretty passable for dim sum if you’re looking for that kind of thing! If you’re looking for something completely different, may I suggest trying Kricket in Soho for some really unusual Indian food? Or Kiln for some great Thai food. Not fusion, but re-invented. @evangelskies
I’m Anthony Bainbridge, aged 75 and still working (part-time university lecturer). I think Monzo and similar Internet banks are certainly the way to go, and I enjoy being up-to-date with technology - even if I am not always capable of speaking the jargon. I love the immediate feedback on screen when I make a contactress transaction. Having been a loyal Lloyds Bank customer since I left school in 1960 l wonder if the days of traditional banking are numbered. We’ll see.
I love Thai food, I’ll look up these places and rope a couple of pals in for food! Working remotely? I’d love to travel between home and UK loads (surprised by how comfy the £150 Norwegian flights were) Get all the xiaolongbaos you can before you fly back since it’s going to be expensive
Hi Monzo Peeps. I’m a TEFL teacher living in the UK and dreaming of travelling again. I just want to publicly share my love of Monzo - great way to spend, budget and manage money really easily. I too love getting the super fast ‘ping’ sound when I use my card. Way to go makers of Monzo
Hi, I’m Chris.

Hi Kai! A short and sweet introduction
A friend tricked me into going to Wimbledon by telling me it was a women’s singles event.
Likes: beer and board games
Hi everyone! I’m Ben. I’m a developer for a big insurance company. I specialise in RPA and OCR and dabble in a little bit of everything else.
I used to be a primary school teacher in a previous (work) life. I enjoy video games, reading and spending time with my daughter. I also review comics as a side project for a website and podcast.
Hi all, I’m Paul but most people call me Carty.
I work for one of the uk leading comparison websites and have been a big fan of monzo since launch.
My Wife and i have just had a beautiful baby girl and we’re using my monzo card as a way of controlling spend on the little tinker and now as the mrs is no longer receiving mat pay a way for me to budget to what she needs.
Big on the agenda for me coming here is looking at how monzo will play into the open banking sector and also how they can help me with everyday “Family” banking.

Hello
My name is Paul. I live in Bristol with my bf and our cat. I work for a sustainable energy charity, where we try to lift vulnerable people out of fuel poverty. I would say I’m super interested in technology though I don’t know the lingo. I’m loving the new banking stuff at the moment and I think there’s some exciting times ahead with it. I’m using Monzo pots to save, though not yet using the account as my main one due mainly to two things; CASS and Apple Pay. I’m looking forward to the update to the Spending tab, as I think this will really help with my budgeting. Fun times!
Hi, I’m Dave age 71. I’m comfortable with most things tech - old cars, electronics and follow fintech news. I use Monzo mainly for Android pay but am increasingly turning to Revolut as it fits my circumstances better. My income mainly derives from the euro zone and I travel often so the sepa and conversion options work well for me.
Hi
I am Usama and have been using Monzo for about 6 months.
Just upgraded to the current account today and thought should signup and drop a line.
As an IT consultant, I have been fascinated about the fintech world so well done Monzo.
