Insurance for phone?

Do you not have 14-days to change your mind?

All insurance policies have at least 14-day cooling off period by law

Not sure I’ve just tweeted them.

Should I change to so sure then ? With protect your bubble it’s £100 for a loss excess with a premium of £8.50 per week.
Thing is so many people use them which is why I don’t know what to do with regard to insuring the phone

It depends how risk averse you are.

Personally speaking, I don’t insure my phones. I’ve never lost one and I’ve never damaged one in over 20 years. (I do put them in a decent case and screen protector)

Yet you’ve posted about maybe buying a 75" TV you clearly don’t need? I’m confused.

Anyway, insurance is always a case of risk, how many times would you have claimed for a damaged/broken phone in the past? If it’s a few times, get some insurance, if not, don’t?

To be honest I’ve not broken or lost a phone before

If you’re usually careful with your phones, as you say, I’d be inclined to create a pot in your Monzo account and set a payment to go into each month. You’ll probably have that £300 put aside in no time, but if you end up with more, that’s a cheap upgrade in the future.

Good advice I’ll strongly consider that.
What about if I drop it, who would I contact ?

Depends on the damage. If it is just a cracked screen, Timpsons will replace it for you.

I have a pot for such things (not specific to a phone, just ‘for emergencies’).

Also, if you’d started the 1p challenges (forward and reverse) at the start of the year, you’d already have £387.96 in a pot…

I’d favour this route if you are pretty careful with your phone which you seem to be, means when you do need some extra cash (for a new TV ) you can grab a little from it too!!

Another issue, especially with an iPhone, is the screens that are put in them by 3rd party places. Lots do use the correct screens, but lots don’t. So you’ll be without your phone for a week while it gets sent off, repaired, and sent back, and maybe not how it was.

Most high streets have a place where you can get a screen replaced within a few hours and for less than you’ll pay for the policy. Especially as you’re likely to have an excess on it.

Surely as protect your bubble are so popular they’re bound to be good ? In the event of needing a replacement or fix, would so sure be any different?
I’d rather pay the premium for a better service

Popular ≠ better, and I think people who would get most value out of it are those with expensive phones. Your phone’s not that expensive so maybe your bubble doesn’t need protecting that much - just invest in a good phone case and try not to lose it.

Got a solid one on the way :+1:t4:

I’m really indecisive about things sometimes, so I’ll keep the protect your bubble insurance for now and cancel it in the near future once I’ve decided.

I’ll decide when I get my new case , thanks guys :ok_hand:t4:

To add to your indecisiveness

Check out the MSE advice, they’re recommending some providers and even have a discount code available. Plenty of people trust MSE advice.

My content insurance say the phone is covered indoors. Does this mean if by some freak chance I damage it at home they’ll send me the money to repair it ?

Ok thanks

Will try out my new case then give it another think. Happily it can be cancelled any time

Tried that mate. Phoned up my content insurers and they quoted an extra £108 premium until jan 2021 then £100 excess 💁🏽

That’s on top of my current policy
