Include bank transfers in budget categories

I’ve been following this for a while and thought it was probably my turn to bump it… Maddening that after three years there’s still no word on this. No idea what Monzo’s angle is in not implementing such a simple and obvious improvement.

Most months people split bills with me using BACS, which means that when Monzo says I’m overbudget I just think ‘yeah but…’ - so the budgeting feature is effectively useless for me.

If Starling or a-n-other bank were to nail this I’d take my money and switch in a heartbeat.

I use the shared tab with my partner to track our joint spending, so if I pay for something (e.g. the weekly shopping) on my card, then add it to our tab, she’ll pay her half into my account. Great feature!

However this doesn’t work with budgets (category or total monthly) so in the case above, even though I’d spent say £50 then got £25, my groceries category would show I’d spent £50 and my total budget would say I’d spent £50.

What I’m essentially asking is, when payments get added to a shared tab, can what is ‘owed’ on it be automatically (or maybe manually) be excluded from spending summary, the same way you can do with full transactions?

My payday from work and rent/bills day have 2 weeks difference. So when I get paid I set aside XX amount to a pot called ‘Bills’, as my flat mate deals with this, she sends a monzo request via our shared house ‘tab’ on the 1st of the month (2 weeks after my payday). I then pay and then transfer the pot money back to my budget, but means my budgetting feature is always off, as the transfer/income is now excluded. HELP!!

Set the bills payment as a committed spend and then when you transfer the pot money back in set it as income, that should sort it I think?

I think this works as intended now with Trends, although not with the “Spending” feature.
