Can’t see this mentioned anywhere else but apparently IKEA now do a credit card…IKEA Family Credit Card - IKEA UK
General terms and conditions
IKEA acts as a credit broker, not a lender, and only offers credit products for Ikano Bank. Credit is provided by Ikano Bank AB and is available subject to status to Sweden residents aged 18 or over. Terms and Conditions apply.Full conditions can be found on Ikano Bank’s website.
Not sure why it only references Sweden residents at the bottom but at the top of the page just the standard 18+ subject to status.
0% instalment plans when you shop at IKEA. Not sure why you wouldn’t just use a general 0% purchase card though.
Because you won’t earn IKEA points with a general purchase card.
I received an email from them this morning saying that their terms have been updated to show, among other things;
Include details of how you can earn points with the IKEA Family Credit Card
I guess it’s only of any use to people who regularly shop there.
Because a normal 0% card is time limited whereas the 0% plans are potentially on offer for each significant purchase in or out of IKEA. And, of course, the points.
This will also almost certainly be about trying to reduce the number of abandoned carts at online checkout too without having to give a cut to Klarna and co. and without looking like BNPL.
I’m not sure how it’s fundamentally different from a BNPL card when used for larger purchases, although it does seem to work like a normal credit card unless you put the larger purchases into a plan.
Yeah it’s fundamentally not, but you’re going to have a subset of customers who won’t want to touch products like Klarna, but would use a traditional 0% credit offer.
Does it come flat pack? At least there shouldn’t be too many parts.
