What do you mean it’s over? Both are attached, the horrible bottles are hard to manage without spilling the liquid that collects in the cap everywhere. While the ridged caps are great, I can rip it clean off or just keep it attached because the seal means there’s no liquid to spill down my shirt.
Huel Black edition I heard tastes worse than Huel regular edition and all it has is extra protein (still less than a bottle of yfood).
I mean I believe the ridged caps are no more, and these are all we’ll get now, unless you opt for the 330ml (mine still and always have had ridged caps in that format). So we’re stuck with the godawful attached caps and questionable seal.
Attached lids are the bane of my existence. Whoever thought up the idea wants crucifying. They’re an ergonomics nightmare, and people are just going to rip them off anyway, defeating the purpose.
I’ll see what I think tomorrow. Not hopeful I’ll like it. It was the same price as Yfood in my coop (£3.50) with 20% less food. Yfood is still the best bang for buck unless you’re comparing to the 330ml bottles.
I really wish I liked Huel. I need something else to accompany the Yfood and change things up from time to time. As bad as the lids are on plastic bottles, attached caps on Saturo’s tetrapaks make them borderline unusable. Can’t enjoy them at all anymore.
They definitely have attached ridged caps, my last few batches were all attached and ridged. The best bottles. If we’re stuck with the awful attached caps, I’ll be very unhappy.
Thank the EU for that. They always like to over-regulate and because we tend to share the same SKUs and stock as the EU, stuff like this will seep through to the UK still.
I really hate the caps too. When it’s a more viscous liquid like a smoothie or a milkshake, the liquid sticks to the cap, and when I drink it drips down my shirt. Or the cap flips back and smears it on my face. And if I want to close the lid, it’s harder to do than with a loose cap. I really hate them.
I’ve yet to have these ones then. So far my last two or three 500ml deliveries have been non-ridged attached caps.
Do they still have the foil in place too?
It’s wild to me how the quality and consistency of drinks can vary so much just by who and where they’re bottled. Downside to scaling up to meet demand I suppose. Not a problem exclusive to Huel either. I notice it with Coke too. I can only drink the stuff in the 1.25 litre bottles. Any other size, and it tastes different to me sometimes. So much so, I don’t like it.
Last batch was 3/3 like this; which made me hopeful they got rid of the other bottling plant. Now my current delivery is 2/4 ridged, so clearly they haven’t.
It was alright as a one off. Won’t buy again. Flavour profile was similar to their standard EU RTDs, which are at least more consistent than the UK one, so although very disliked on the Huel community, is a plus point for me. The aftertaste is awful though.
That said, if I get lucky with the standard bottles, and don’t get one that is off, standard huel is nicer, and when on the rare occasion I’m in coop and buy one on a whim, I’ll be going for standard.
I’ll pass, I can’t stomach their nut flavours. Actually had to pour the peanut ones down the drain because after suffering through two of the six bottles the third one was triggering my gag reflex just by smell.
The latest yfood adverts are… interesting. I am no Mary Whitehouse but seeing them once was enough to feel put off and not want to continue giving them custom. Feels like sleazy, ‘bloke’ humour.
Shame that the taste means I can no longer easily stomach Huel…
From the ones I’ve seen (assuming you’re talking about the socials), very Monzo. So Monzo in fact I’d believe you if you told me @cookywook has left Monzo to work there instead.
Not my kind of ads either (I don’t think we’re the demographic they’re targeting), but it must be something that works, because this style is becoming more and more common from brands on social media.
Also, I just noticed recently that Yfood are now a b corp too. Apparently have been since August 2023.
I don’t like these but these, I imagine speak to @jo more than us. They wouldn’t put me off the brand. The other adverts though sort of did. Is there an alternative that’s closer to yfood than Huel?
Saturo is nice. Nicer than Huel. It has a more savoury taste to it, but I like it. The new lids simply do not work on tetra paks though so I’ve stopped buying them. They’re also the most expensive because of Brexit.
