HSBC Chat

Has anyone ever spoke to staff in branch/the phone about what products you are eligible before?

Basically I’d like to consolidate a lot of my banking to HSBC (I know there are some products better at other providers but this for me is more about convenience)

I’ve read comments on forums and elsewhere in the past about staff telling them what they are eligible for in branch at their file, before running any sort of credit checks but not sure if this is still a possibility.

If I remember rightly I did a Sar over an issue with Halifax a few years ago and the data that came back actually showed something like this (limits they’d allow/products and such) but not sure if it’s accessible by just asking?

Surely that can’t be a thing? How would branch staff know if you will pass an automated credit check?

This sounds like someone in branch going onto the webpage for the account, checking the eligibility requirements and telling you what they are (I could be wrong, interested in the answer too)

Could be.

I’d assume a bank already has some sort of internal checker that highlights products to sell you/are on offer, have experienced this in Halifax before when I was a customer (the SAR seemed to suggest that too)

Was just curious

Is anyone using an Android phone with HSBC?

I’ve installed the app on my Pixel 6a and only have the option for card transaction notifications and not all money in/out.

What do other Android users have in the notification settings?

Mine shows the same, but when I transfer in/out I get a notification. Not used the card.

Thanks - must just be a bug in the Android app, then. The iOS app says “Turn on money in & out notifications”.

Think says that on the first page but then only says about turning off card payments on the tick box page.

Guess can’t control them as much in app. Same goes from device settings.

You should get Lloyds instead, they allow you to BOSS payments, Carlo.

Limits? You’re set.
Gambling block? Sorted.

I have HSBC and Barclays currently. Not sure what I’m using what for yet. Might put some “aside” money in HSBC.

We’re talking about card transaction notifications, not controlling card features like gambling.

Stop the bus.

It calls it transaction notifications, but the description for it is “when money goes in and out”. I have that ticked on my Samsung, and get notifications anytime money comes in or out (e.g. I got paid into HSBC this morning and got a notification for it)

Yes, that’s how it should work but I’m only getting card transaction notifications at the moment. HSBC say it will sort itself out after 7 days, but

a) I’m impatient
b) Many years of various customer services have made me prone to disbelieving them
c) I’m far too obsessed with transaction notifications

It will.

I get (iOS) notifications for each card payment and transfer/money in/out. They’re pretty good, quite instant and reliable I’ve found. Didn’t get one for DD’s being setup etc but will report back if I get one when they are taken.

Yes, it’s all in/out transactions. I had HSBC Advance until last summer and received notifications for everything other than DDs actually being set up. The DD being taken notifications all came overnight.
